He'll come in while Durant sits, with Grimes and Beasley off the market, we're looking at Trent or Kennard or something of the likes to backup Amen. Signing DFS also would put and end to the Cam experiment obviously... Maybe we can trade him for 5 second round picks?
The worst free throw shooting team getting another terrible free throw shooter (71%). I'm not enthused.
I think it’s a fair question but he’s career 36% and shot 41% last season on good volume with two different teams. I put him at Dillon’s value. He might actually be better on both sides of the ball.
I have a soft spot for DFS. He's 32 but is playing (and shooting) the best ball of his entire career. Hopefully, the Rockets can sign him to a 3-4 year NTMLE contract, which would make him very tradeable at any point in time. Obviously he would fit like a glove defensively. If he shoots the 3-ball near 40%, this would be a grand slam for the Rockets. Get 'er done Rafa Stone!
I think DFS' lateral speed is better than DB's but he doesn't play as physical or dirty and he doesn't infuriate opponents. He doesn't do a lot of the off-the-ball shoving and elbowing DB specialized in. His natural position is the 3, but he can guard 2s and sometimes 4s. Very versatile and switchable.
I don't think it really matters that DFS is a bad FT shooter, lol. He literally averages under 1 FTA a game. A normal game for him is to not go to the line at all. Doesn't move the needle on our FT shooting one way or another. (KD should help us in that department though.) He appears to be one of those weird guys that can knock down threes but isn't a great FT shooter. Probabl,y again, because he doesn't get much practice in game situations at the line. He'd be a solid pickup. I think he's exactly the kind of guy we should be looking for, a floor spacer who fits Ime's defensive culture. He wouldn't start for us, I assume--Amen would start in the backcourt. He'd come off the bench as a 6th man type unless somebody gets hurt.
4/50 with player option incoming. I see some tweets saying 14 + mill per, I’d honestly be very surprised if we would go into the lux tax for this, but we’ll see.
Vs the Timberwolves in the playoffs, he averaged 6.2 pts (39% FG) 4.5 rebs in 25 minutes per game...and Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle both went off....
the Lakers can extend him to a longer deal too if that's all he wants, it has to be a larger deal that the Lakers can't afford.
I would assume his role would be somewhat reduced for us. I'd bet 20mpg or so, not defending the other teams' best players very often (Amen, Tari, and Jabari would have that assignment as much as possible).
We don’t have one natural sg o this team outside of Cam. Are we going to address this. This team has potential But there are holes I the wise that aren’t being discussed or addressed. Just getting older and slower with no offensive identity
Underwhelmed... only like the deal if we get to keep Cam, stay under the cap (no luxury tax), and the deal is 2 years max (or 3 years with a team option). I want to see Cam get his 20 minutes per night, at least until the trade deadline before we give up on him for peanuts. If we're going to give up Cam or pay the tax, then just go get D White and make it worth it.
My read is that we're done with Cam, I wouldn't be surprised if he never plays another minute in a Rockets uniform
No. We need more guys capable of defending guards and wings. We have Amen but would need another one. We have more than enough to defend any kind of forwards.
