This is good for us, we were canvassing trade options before knowing which free agents are still available. Clearly other teams hesitating to make a move before the rest of their roster is set. So this gives us flexibility to go both ways throughout the FA period. Jock doing us a solid.

Great move for both sides. The best way for Landale to keep is 8 mil this year is to be included in a trade, since we’d have to opt into it to complete the trade (someone correct me if I’m wrong).

this clearly indicates they're looking to trade him right?

Is it concerning that we needed more time to get a deal done or is this a good sign? I can see it both ways

They’re going to include Cam in the trade.

Teams want cam whitmore, not landale. Landale is just salary filler.

Question for the cap experts - my understanding is that we could have maybe stayed under the luxury tax with Landale, but if we package him and Cam for a single player making something like 12 - 15 mil, I don't think it would be feasible to say under the tax, meaning the goal would be to stay under the first apron. Am I mistaken?

that we’ve obviously been trying to put a trade together using Cam and Landale and haven’t been successful yet? Maybe there’s not much of a market. But like I said, I can see it both ways.

Oh, I see. I guess I'm not too concerned about that. I don't think there's a massive rush now that the draft is over, and now that Landale has pushed back his date. Free agency starts tomorrow and contracts can be signed on July 6 (Landale's contract opt-in is July 7), so maybe the Rockets and/or potential trade teams want to see what they can do in free agency before deciding on additional trades.

It means, Jock had the choice of getting let go today or on July 7th. He chose July 7th.

Expect Cam to be traded this week. BIG mistake as he was the perfect replacement for Green. There are zero 10 million dollar players who can replace a point per minute ridiculous athlete.

Interesting, I guess there's virtually no downside for either party so it may mean nothing.

Downside for Jock is he has to wait longer to know his future.

They Rockets want that flexibility to include that salary - I am sure Landale's agent asked around, and found out that no one was going to offer 8m, so they extended, if somewhere else was going to and he wanted to go there, he would not have extended, as he could get shipped anywhere with this deal.
