Work the business side with Gretch. “With the Rockets, Tanke’s responsibilities include tickets, corporate partnerships and marketing. He will also be involved in other aspects of the business including renovations to Toyota Center.” “Tanke will report to Rockets president of business operations Gretchen Sheirr, a longtime executive who previously worked as the team’s chief operating officer (COO) and had kept performing those duties as part of her current role. Tanke’s hire is meant to streamline operations.”
I wonder if Kessler Edwards is worth taking a look at for a vet minimum end of bench guy. Decent defender and shooter. Not much else - but can step in and fill a gap occasionally
I think the playoffs are tough to predict, but this coming season could be a Top 5 season for the franchise in regular season wins (55 wins or more).
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45599900/nba-free-agency-2025-cap-space-best-fits-all-30-teams Houston Rockets Below the tax: $1 million Below the first apron: $9 million Below the second apron: $21 million (Note: After Houston aggregated the contracts of Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green, they are now hard capped at the second apron.) The Rockets started free agency early when Steven Adams signed a three-year, $39 million extension. It continued when All-Star Kevin Durant was acquired from Phoenix. Durant is eligible to sign a two-year $122 million deal on July 6. The Rockets also brought back Fred VanVleet, Aaron Holiday, Jeff Green and Jae'Sean Tate. Finding a replacement for Brooks and weighing rookie extensions for Jabari Smith Jr., Tari Eason are on the Rockets to-do list. Smith and Eason are eligible up until Oct. 20. Team needs: Perimeter shooting Free agents who fit: Sam Merrill, Luke Kennard, Jake LaRavia, Branden Carlson, Oscar Tshiebwe, Gary Trent Jr., Alec Burks, Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway Jr. Moves I would make: Extensions for Durant, Smith and Eason. Under contract: Alperen Sengun, VanVleet, Durant, Smith, Reed Sheppard, Amen Thompson, Eason, Cam Whitmore, Adams, Jock Landale, Holiday, Green, Tate and Nate Williams Key free agents: None
So right now our regular season roster is: Sengun/Adams Bari/Jeff Green KD/Tari/Tate Amen/Holiday Fred/Reed Assuming Cam, Nate Williams and Landale are gone, that’s 4 spots available (not counting 2-ways).
We actually need a combo guard and PF/C. This is not a deep enough team. Injuries are a given. Fred usually plays around 60 games, Durant maybe 70, Tari?, Adam’s? Bari hasn’t played an entire season yet, we have non idea what Reed or Cam will be. Grimes and a trade for John Collins would do the trick.
I like the thoughts. You don't think Collins would be out of the price range? Who are giving up to get him? I'm being deada$$. Not doubting. Just curious how to make it happen.
Once all the contracts are settled. We could get him with Tate, Holiday, Landale, and Cam. We would then still have the full NT-MLE for a combo guard and still be under the 1st apron. We would have to throw in one of our own picks protected for 1-5 or something. He is a rental, but we would have bird rights to re-sign him if he works out. I think the combo guard is the bigger need, but we are too dependent on Cam and Reed to breakout this year to have an adequate bench.
Just a better version of N'Faly but I don't get why ESPN put him there as it contradicts our need of a shooter lol
