I'm sure nursing homes and home healthcare providers are chomping at the bit to do charity work for those who can't wipe their own ass and have no family left to help them. It's like I said, you hate people man, these proposals aren't serious at all and will never work even if implemented.

There have literally been charity organizations that do exactly this for centuries.
You did say it. You are not correct, but you did say it.
They are quite serious, would work, and have worked in the past.

I've had extended family in that area for a long, long time, and I live around there now as well. My grandmother was friends with them, and it was always her favorite peach stand, so that's the one I've always stopped at too.

Haven't been there yet this year, so I dunno how they're coping. I've heard exactly nothing about any ICE activities in the Hill Country. It will not go over very well when it does happen.

The GOP war on renewable energy is - from among all of the ridiculous, short-sighted, economically ****ing stupid ideas they have - very very near the top of the list.

Were adding a 20% tax on all new solar projects regardless of where they have sourced their content from and adds a tax on all existing solar. Its absolutely bat **** crazy.

The Texas GOP just did a different but similar screwjob on the renewables industry in the State. It makes no sense whatsoever.

Forty five percent of all electricity in TX comes from renewables! Why the hell would we make it harder to add electricity to the grid at a time electricity demand is through the roof due to AI?

Instead were adding extra subsidies to the coal industry!

Its just ****ing crazy how braindead this legislation is. Future generations are going to look back at this time period and realize this is when we officially gave up.

    Absolutely ****ing nuts!

There are 3rd world countries who provide better levels of healthcare for their citizens. The GOP is raising the middle finger to our nation's most vulnerable, and calling it Beautiful. That's some sick mentality for ya.

Just think about that...... a quarter of all rural nursing homes will shut down...thousands of small businesses will shut down overnight.

    Absolutely batshit crazy.

Heartbreaking. It takes a really heartless soul to be proud of pushing a bill like that forward.

It's not like those facilities, and the families who rely upon them, were bathing in money and government cheese before this.

There's simply no care or consideration by the MAGA crowd for their perceived "lessers". Cruelty is always the goal, not the "unintended" consequences.

I now wonder what that last paragraph reminds me of? Sorry, can't quite think of it.

Trump the pathological liar spewed some big lies about his big domestic policy bill. That psycho just can't stop his compulsive lying about anything.

In a White House speech on Thursday, Trump falsely claimed Medicaid is “left the same” by the bill. In fact, both the version of the legislation that was narrowly passed by the House in May and the latest version now being contemplated by the Senate contain major Medicaid policy changes and funding cuts that are expected to result in millions of people losing insurance coverage.

    Here's another big lie...

Trump warned Thursday of the consequences of allowing the temporary tax cuts from his 2017 tax law to expire rather than making them permanent by passing this new bill – and he invoked a figure he has frequently deployed when promoting the 2025 legislation.

“If the bill doesn’t pass, there’ll be a 68% tax increase,” he said. “Think of that: 68%.”

Trump again repeated the “68%” warning during Friday remarks at the White House.

Come on man, even the most braindead in your cult can't possibly be so stupid or naive to believe that lie. Or, maybe they are. :p

Regardless, when the President of the United States is a pathological liar, he is unfit to serve this country.

    This is from 2023:

    • Texas produces more crude oil than any other state and accounted for more than two-fifths (43%) of the nation's production from both onshore and offshore areas
    • Texas has one-fourth of U.S. proved natural gas reserves...and in 2023, the state accounted for more than one-fourth (27%) of the nation's natural gas gross withdrawals.
    • Texas has about 9 billion tons of estimated recoverable coal reserves, 4% of the nation's total.
    • Texas produces more electricity than any other state, generating more than twice as much power as second-place Florida. In 2023, Texas accounted for 13% of the nation's total electricity net generation.
    • Renewable sources provided almost 30% of total state electricity net generation in Texas in 2023. The state accounted for about 16% of the nation's total electricity generation from renewable sources. In 2023, Texas led the nation in utility-scale wind-powered electricity generation, producing nearly three-tenths of the U.S. total.
    • In 2023, Texas was the country's second-largest producer of solar power, after California.

And the GOP wants to **** this all up a multi-billion dollar industry in renewables because reasons...sounds about right

Theyre in bed with the coal industry! If you want to say let's get rid all energy subsidies @StupidMoniker then thats a argument you can make but why would you levy new taxes on new renewables while giving giant subsidies for coal? You're rigging the field for an outdated energy source that's 3x more expensive than solar!

This is single handily the absolute worst piece of legislation since the Iraq war authorization. Will set back the country decades

"All I really care about is Texas"

There were 2 proposed bills in the State Legislature and, I posted and talked about them a couple/few weeks ago, that were solely for and from the Petro-industry at the total detriment of renewable energy generation and thus everyone else in the state. Can't remember what thread I posted in and I don't care.

Long story short so far: smarter people have prevailed, it's all tabled back to committee, and I'm shocked.

Won't embed and/or can't post it here, but take a look:

    https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=427&t=3

No other industry needs subsidies like the coal industry does (politicians are trying to say they're saving jobs, I get that, but it's bullshit) , and it's just a pittance of our output.
