After reading through these 16 pages, I'm exhausted and beating myself up for not doing something more productive with my time. It's struck me Cam's timing was just wrong with the Rockets. If he could had been drafted #2 vs JG, under Silas he would have been a runaway freight train of a scorer. In two years, he would have likely been a 20 plus scorer and 6-7 rebounds as well. He might have been a much more efficient scorer than JG, but that could be debatable. When Ime came in, Cam may have been our star, with Alpi still developing. Ok, enough with the alternative universe, because that's not our reality today. In other threads we've debated about finding diamonds in the rough and some teams may certainly see Cam as someone who could develop in their system. Many of you have mentioned that Cam's personality and game is not a good fit for Ime's system/culture. If that's true, then he's likely being moved. @Nook wondered why we haven't explored Cam's perspective more, and frankly that's valid. Cam is obviously confident and has to believe he deserves playing time, likely starter's minutes. Because his value is low, the risk is trading him where he actually develops into a really good player and not receiving a good return on our investment. The flipside is can he become a viable part of our rotation or is he destined to permanently be in Ime's doghouse? Seems like our FO/Coaching Staff have already figured this out. They are likely looking for a team that believes Cam is a gem and with some polishing could be a jewel. His value isn't going to increase with Ime, unless maybe he goes to the G-League and demonstrates a more diverse and higher IQ game. I won't be surprised if the "Cam Whitmore Appreciation Thread" is started soon. I hate to see talent wasted, so I hope we/he figure it out.
Trade for DFS and then sign NAW with the NTMLE. FVV-Reed-Holiday Amen-NAW KD-DFS-Tate Bari-Tari-Unc Sengun-Adams
But after next year Dorian will be a free agent. Idk why they would do that knowing that Jabari, Eason, and Amen will be up soon for new contracts.
I really like Cam Whitmore. That being said, I’ve begun to debate if getting KD requires us to throw some additional assets at winning in the here and now. We absolutely need a “6th man”. Does the organization already have such faith in Reed? I think Cam is perfect For that role this year. That being said, some people don’t ever change off of being immature. Sengun/Adams Smith Durant/Eason Amen FVV Seven guys that I feel great about having in the rotation. We really need to get to nine to feel confident in the playoffs. Maybe even 10. I feel great if Holiday/Tate/Green are 10,11,12. We have a lot invested in Reed and I’m gonna go ahead and hope that he can be the 9th rotation player. Maybe he is still a year or so away and holiday slots in there I can see that and I can see us winning with that. The 8th person Is critical and needs to be an above average rotation player. Frankly, I think it needs to be a perimeter oriented player that can drive to the rim and defend.
once again, evan sidery is adding his own takes into his aggregation. same guy said jock was released. he's the worst twitter account i can remember because he appears to be legit.
Two separate reports that he’s being shopped. Iko and now Shams. Reports last season that he was in the doghouse due to his attitude. It’s not rocket science to put two and two together that he’s on the trade block.
He could drop 20 a night easy on a bad team. If the front office is going to trade him, at least boost his value first by giving him regular minutes. That said, I’m with DD on this one—I’d move Bari and Tari before Cam, who might have the highest ceiling on the roster. Letting him go too soon could come back and haunt us down the road, kinda like what happened with Horry and Cassell. I know everyone is wearing the homer glasses and expect us to become an instant contender with the Durant trade. But hey, Nets fans and Suns fans thought the same thing. What if the Durant experiment does not pan out? Having Cam and Sheppard around would be valuable insurance.
I think we should try to trade Cam and the Phoenix 27 swap to Washington for the Phoenix 26 pick. In effect they get two first round picks for one and we have a lottery pick for one of the best drafts in years and also helps with the Stepien rule.
I swear if Cam is traded to the Lakers and shows out, that would not be a good look for the Rockets. Talk about pissing a fan base off.
I don’t think Grimes or Sexton are options. Grimes is an RFA which means Philly/Morey control his tradability. Sexton is paid too much and doesn’t play defense. NAW or Ty Jerome are options as both are unrestricted free agents and fit the NT-MLE. None of these players have been linked to the Rockets.
Grimes or Sexton is going to cost $10M+, why go that route when you got Cam for $3M? You're going to need a bench behind KD and FVV
Haha enjoy brother, I like cam too but yeah Tari injuries scary too, but I would only move cam or tari for a proven good player, not just a player to get, depends if the rockets send jabari to bench. Then u go out for a starting sg but if u go for an bench option, then I feel like we need an awesome consistent 6th man option but idk whose out there that's willing to go starter to 6th man type role, I don't feel like they should rush a trade
