This is kind of like saying it's a teacher's job to make sure all the kids behave and do well. And if they can't get all of the kids to behave and do well then they are in the wrong profession. But anybody who has been in a classroom knows that can often be mission impossible with some students. It's definitely Ime's job to try to get the best out of Cam but at the end of the day it's up to Cam to listen. It's fine to have different approaches for different players but Ime shouldn't have to baby Cam when he throws a fit. Tatum and Brown rave about Ime and give him a ton of credit for their championship and helping them develop. Cam should be reaching out to guys like that to figure out how to fit in with Ime if he's not.
I get that, Ime has his issues and Cam has his issues and Ime is vastly more successful than young Cam so the org is riding with Ime rather than the redundant Whitmore. Another question is why Ime is so desperate and hell bent on winning the chip now opposed to in 6-10 years...... Going for the likes of KD and Giannis instead of waiting for the Coops and Dylan Harpers of the world. It is not like he is 60 and cannot wait like MDA.
I think if you have a chance to win a title in the NBA you go for it if it's not going to cripple your franchise. I'm not out on Cam but if they can get good value for him I have no issue with them moving him. And especially if he's causing issues off the court.
He'll lose the sight of real progress, I mean yeah, we can all go out and acquire stars like the Lakers..... But it ain't much fun doing that. Apart from the successes, the Lakers are a shallow organization. Cam is just a chess piece, but I think Ime's problem is that he has no patience waiting for young players.......
As long as they aren't trading Amen/Sengun for aging stars they are nowhere near to what the Lakers have done.
Imagine you went on the news and said your boss doesn't communicate with you (a lie), then some time later your boss and his boss are on a bigger news channel and they get asked why they're not communicating with you. And they have two choices: - Reduce the value of the asset (Cam) by essentially saying he's lying. - Reduce your own value by accepting this lie, so that you don't reveal to the world you have a damaged asset. They went with option A and rightfully so. That you're surprised they're shopping him is shocking to me. He couldn't get a backup minute behind Jalen Green, why on earth would he get a backup minute behind Amen Thompson then? Why would he get the backup minutes over Sheppard or Holiday who are both just as capable as playing next to Amen Thompson in the backcourt? He's twice the size and athleticism of Sheppard and Holiday but a worse defender. Holiday and Sheppard play garbage minutes all the time and they are committed professionals when they do it. Hope we get something of value for him and I sincerely hope he works on his mental issues, he would be a fun player to watch on another team.
Sure, the Lakers got a 25 year old this time and the Rockets are behaving like the Clippers with a 37 year old. I am not even that mad at the 37 year old but surrounding him with 30 year olds at the expense of just getting rid of players you deem not worth developing after 2 years.
Nickeil Alexander Walker is a great idea whoever brought that up. If we can get that guy for $12m a year he's a hell of a rotation player who can both shoot and defend really well at the 2. Fits next to anyone really, just an excellent role player. Coby White another great idea but obviously you'd have to give up a pick too. Worth it if a wink wink extension can be agreed with White beforehand and the pick is not likely/allowed to fall in the top 10.
There are just so many good options if we want to pick up a shooting guard. It sort of feels like they should? But it may depend on their level of belief in Reed whether they actually do.
@DaDakota we get it, you like him and are extremely biased, but just answer this question: has Cam given any indication he’s willing to be a student of the game and get better? That he wants to put in the work? That he’s learned from mistakes, that not getting playing time motivates him to work harder? That when he gets an opportunity to play at the end of games (not those 1-2 games he started at end of the year for resting reasons) he shows you he should play more by being selfless, hard working on defense etc?
No knock on Whitmore, but given the expectations for the upcoming season, it's just hard to see the Rockets giving him the primary backup guard spot outright. But if they bring in a veteran wing, Whitmore could be left with few meaningful minutes yet again. Of course, he could come into the season firing on all cylinders and changing everyone's minds. But that kind of sudden growth and development seems very unlikely.
So getting the #2 seed in West, having rising superstar Amen, emerged star Sengun, acquiring KD on a fair deal, restructuring FVV to a lesser deal, ZERO PLAYERS ever let go by Stone breaking out in 5 years gets a firing because the risky draft pick that ONLY Stone took a chance on in the draft, showed the signs of why all teams passed on him? Its like Houston is the designated therapist babysitters of the NBA for mercurial petulant guys who ruin their own careers with lack of professional focus
You guarantee it, hold you to it....lmao, chill. People are exeggerating the probabilities, this is still a 37 year old and not a 28 year old. We may agree to disagree how probable we can win a championship but the old age is a fact here.
It is sus af.....and he is actually expediting his own demise if he doesn't win it all. I doubt anyone was pressuring him to trade for KD other than his own brain.....that is what I meant.
I'm not taking anything for granted. Winning a 3rd NBA championship will be very difficult. I'm guessing that the organization is in a hurry.
It is unchartered territory, I doubt there were many teams led by a 37 year old that won it all. Not to say, the Lebron Heatles did not win until their 2nd year and KD/Harden/Russ practically choked/did not show up.
