If the rumors are true, I can see us doing a sign-n-trade for Alexander-Walker or Gary Trent Jr for Cam Whitmore. They are proven veterans who can shoot the 3 and play defense...I prefer to keep Cam and let him compete for the last starting spot...still not sold on Jabari
All IKO said was that Cam was the subject of trade discussions, this could mean the Rox are getting TONS of calls for Cam - and teams are trying to get him on the cheap. NOWHERE does it say, the Rox are shopping Cam. DD
I would bet my entire life savings that you're wrong, and I'd win. I can also promise you that Shams does not speculate. The industry has changed, yes, the problem is that you seem to think that unless something is "concrete" it's worthless. I think it's more convenient for you, that way, because you can then "ad hominem" dismiss any info that doesn't mesh with a desired agenda. Yes, in a perfect world, we'd have known exactly what the price was or what the Suns were asking for. However, the fact that there was a workable financial deal that would be acceptable to the Rockets is news. Based on previous reporting, I was personally very skeptical if there was a deal the Rockets would be okay with that would send out sufficient salary to bring in KD. Kelly's report made it clear that there was, and ultimately it happened. It was a key inflection point. Also, you don't need to apologize to me, I'm just telling you how it actually is — as someone that also talks to Kelly, Rafael, Patrick, and all the same people. If you want to believe that I'm all in on the conspiracy, too, I guess have at it.
It is lazy reporting,it is just a clickbait tweet. Are the Rockets shopping him? Are teams just calling about him? Are the Rockets looking to upgrade that position for a vet? How does that work with the cap and the new Aprons? I am saying it is BS because it is clickbait on Twitter, with ZERO actual information. Every situation is fluid….. Yes, I would keep him, unless we can get someone significantly better….. I would respect actual reporting with verified sources, but that isn’t happening here, nor hardly ever on twitter in particular, in this era of everyone’s a reporter….. DD
Yeah, Sexton can handle the ball, bust it, and get to the rack. But, no defense. He's always played on crappy teams
He has been given chances. He just hasn't met expectations and some folks think that should matter less. We should always be predatory but we have until this upcoming mid season deadline to really figure it out.
To be fair, I do respect this argument. I agree that playing it fast and loose with anonymous sources, which happens more and more these days (not just in NBA media), can make it even more likely for people in positions of power to leak (or partially leak, to your point) things for strategic purposes. And in certain situations, that can affect the reliability of the info. Fair. But it's a massive leap to go from that argument to accusing folks of making things up and/or speculating.
That's a great idea, if Cam has all this superstar potential like everybody says then it's a win win all round, right?
No defense is tough with Ime but we really need someone that can attack the rim while still being a good shooter. We really have no one that can consistently do that besides Amen. Durant doesn’t do that as much anymore and I don’t really want him to at his age.
aside from the well-documented gross asset mismanagement detailed here Cam on the trade block who drafted green over several better prospects in the first place and while ignoring eli witus? who waited for the absolute nadir of green’s value to finally get off his fat ass and make the move? this trade could have happened at the trade deadline on more favorable terms
Sure he has.... he just keeps repeating the same mistakes. Sucks that ownership wants to win now so there's less leeway for making repeated mistakes....but we aren't in the position to be as developmental in the past. Do you take into consideration that we will still be developing Sengun, Amen, Tari, Bari, and Reed along with Cam? We are still a very young team, developing a lot of players at once. Your boy Cam just needs to get with the program.
Eh, I don't think it's lazy, I'm sure he's tried to find out more. He just clearly hasn't been given that level of additional info, so he's sharing what he has. We can agree to disagree if you don't think there's at least some news value in sharing that people involved in this (Rockets or Cam's agency reps, my guess both) are saying that these talks are going on. Now with that said, if you want to argue that there might be other agendas at play — i.e. maybe the Rockets are just leaking this as an trial balloon to see what offers/options they might have, or maybe Cam is wanting to pressure the Rockets into promising a rotation role — that's fair. My personal, somewhat educated guess is that it's not that, but you can make the argument, yeah.
I’d be down with a Quentin Griimes sign/trade for Cam (& etc) if the sides could make the numbers work. Also, a Coby White deal would suffice but there’s no way in hell I’d just give this kid away. If they do make a deal it better be worthwhile or it’s very poor management by the front office.
