Maybe we have, and he didn’t take the opportunity. We don’t know what goes on behind the scenes. I want Cam to succeed with the Rockets, so I will be disappointed if he’s traded. But, if Ime feels it’s best to go in a different direction, then I’m okay with that.
If he wants out, then you go and trade him. I like him a lot, and I think he can develop into a great wing, but with the KD trade I'm not sure we can rely on him improving quickly enough for us to keep him. The title window with KD is the next two years. I would be sad to see Cam gone, but to win we need a more dependable and less moody backup wing. Ime won't give him the minutes or a role he wants/needs, so maybe it is for the better that both sides look for other opportunities. He has value, so we can probably get a good player back.
So trading Cam for another Dillon Brooks, lmao, trade Reed for another Jalen Green next? That is comical how in an instant Stone is trying to transform a young team into an old team. Durant and Ime shouldn't hold this much power over the org......
I'm fine with this, especially because it means they will be targeting a veteran who can step in and help them win this year.
Iko has been proven to be more about click bait than truth lately. Let's look at the facts, Cam's salary is not high enough to net a good player - who would you put with it to aggregate? There is ZERO reason to trade him for future draft capital now - until you have your roster set. The only way he is traded is if the Rox have a plan for a much better wing - and we don't have the cap room to get one, nor do we want to add additional salary to get one. So, IMHO - and that is all this is.....he might be traded but only after the season has started, and we free up contracts like FVV to add to his to net a better more impactful player. And IKO is a terrible source he just makes stuff up these days. I hate social media - we used to have basketball discussion here, now all we do is post someone else's opinion and haggle about it.....in a vicious circle of crap. DD
If Udoka's only mantra is using young talents to lure old, near retirement players, then I don't agree. Sorry but not sorry. He has to be better than that and not crossing the lines like he did with Harden, now he is tempted to cross a lot of other lines. Endangering long term success to have short term success and endorse himself within the league, not my cup of coffee.
If they're willing to put Cam on the block, they probably want to open up room for someone older, less streaky and less mean muggy off the bench to provide instant offense. Cam to the East for a lotto protected 1st rounder would be the move.
Stone and this FO has shown some clear deficiencies with asset management Gordon, Wood, Martin, Christopher, Garuba, TyTy, Jalen, now potentially Whitmore (and soon Tate) are all guys our FO failed to extract proper value from. These are multiple first round picks and or guys that were *at times* worth firsts or good 2nds that got sold low on. These mishandled assets add up to make big difference. How many players have we sold high on under Stone’s FO after 5 years? Dillon Brooks and that’s it. Harden was a unique position to handle and I do acknowledge that they didn’t do bad with given the circumstances. He has serious talent and physical tools, he’s young enough and inexperienced enough for people to still have hopes on him putting it together. He isn’t like Jalen who got full reign and support, he’s barley played so far.
(1) Stone is an extremely smart human being and (2) the Hou FO is usually regarded as one of the very best in the league, and Stone is usually credited for that.
You can't do that, Cam makes like 3m - who are you going to add to get to the 15m that Grimes will get? BTW - since Stone has come into office, can anyone name one leak....ONE? That has proven true.....Stone has not let anything out. DD
WHY? This is just bad asset management. If you are going to do that, you do it AFTER you have someone as a WING to cover the hole you leave with him leaving. You don't trade for FUTURE firsts until you don't need a player, if Cam leaves we are 1-2 wings short of a full roster..... Why would you trade for a future anything, until you have the PRESENT solved as we are in "WIN NOW" mode? Answer: You wouldn't. DD
Didn’t udoka say he was planning on giving him n shepherd more playing time? I’m not buying he’s on the block
Guys, please drop the "selling high", "selling low" nonsense with Cam. He's never had much value. There's a reason he dropped to #20. I'd love to get Grimes but he's probably not attainable. Kennard is sniper who would thrive playing off KD and Alpi. Rockets are trying to win a championship THIS YEAR!
