Normal people make memes making fun of how stupid the Cuomo and R supporters are being over this and their over-the-top marketing. Then the boomer right posts the memes the normal people make with captions like - man, so deep. Lulz.
Given what I have seen, it's likely that people/media/social media are lying or misleading. Either way, I don't care. This is up to NYC. But I do want to repeat my main point - "bad" people can be elected to power. You want a democracy or some form of checks and balances. You do not want a king, because as much as there may be a good king, it just takes one bad one to destroy us.
the heavy-favorite. the sitting VP, Richard Nixon, lost the election to JFK. he then ran for the Gov of Calif; he was soundly defeated by Jerry Brown's father. In his concession speech, Tricky Dick said "you won't have Nixon to kick around anymore" i wish that was true in Cumo's case; but it appears that he will run as an independent
Wow this is going to sink him. **** cuomo, the people won one. The powerful took the L. Good for the people.
Mamdani has repeatedly said he wont cut a penny from the police budget and instead hire thousands of social workers to handle non violent calls... what's wrong with that?
This is exactly how and why the Dems (from top down) completely ****ed up the idea of "defund the police" Idiotic Slogan For Idiots.
Spending more money for mental heathcare, family violence, homelessness, and a dozen other things that the actual police don't need to be dealing with might free up police to do actual police work. "defund the police" was quite possibly the worst slogan any Dem could have ever come up with in the history of Dems, and it bit them right in the ass come election time
FIFY. A handful of Ds said defund the police. All of the Rs used that as a campaign slogan against the Ds.
I don't consider the DSA/Mamdani's 20-something-social-media-rants and "the Bernie left" to be the same thing, either. Of course socialized medicine isn't as bad as a bunch of armchair revolutionaries decapitating the government, but that's just blatant cherry-picking on your part.
I’m kinda wondering why all these Deep South states rights maga people are getting so worked up over New York City maybe having a mayor they don’t agree with politically? I mean it’s not even a governor of the state or a senator or house member who might touch federal laws? The freak out is kind of insane. Mamdani didn’t win the race to become emperor of the republic or something.
