Not a fan. I know passing on millions of dollars is easier said than done, but I wonder about these older players trading potential rings so they can retire some day with a billion dollars instead of 950 million. I guarantee every player as kid would take the rings, but something always happens along the way. Give him 40 million and have Tilman sign him to a 30-year Landry's Spokesperson contract.
I would at least wait and see how the season progresses before deciding on an extension. Full Article - https://basketball.realgm.com/wiret...Extension-With-Goal-Of-Him-Retiring-With-Team Kevin Durant, Rockets To Discuss Extension With Goal Of Him Retiring With Team
Media literacy check: Read the article or listen to the Sham hit. There is no mention of a number - the headline writer just inserted 2yrs/112M because that’s what they (incorrectly) think his max is if he extends immediately. There is no news here, just slop.
Id love him to come in somewhere around two years 45 million a year but I also respect what he’s done in the league and that that is not necessarily how it works. 2 years 112, 2nd year of the extension is a mutual option with some sort of guarantee to it.
Sideline and others posted it as discussing the 112 mill. Whatever it is, that’s the max offer. Let’s see if he goes lower.
KD is an elite player still - I'm not saying he is worth that number, but I DO think that we are going to have to get used to the idea that we will need to pay him more than any other Rocket player in recent memory - at least for a few years.
I’m no GM but I look at it this way Whatever it will cost to keep him, sign him here till he retires We haven’t had a legend come thru our doors in a minute so let’s enjoy the ride
