no they couldn't, they (the suns) are essentially hard capped and his salary couldn't fit in with Jalen and Dillon. Additionally they cannot aggregate, so no, Cam Whitmore could not be a part of a Jalen/Dillon for KD package I would also like to see him get a chance here but he definitely has value to bring in a more proven rotational shooter.
100% agree! Thats why Cam should start...we need scoring. Once we get hot starts at the beginning of games, then we can roll with our Deadly-D lineup of Jabari/Tari/Amen aka "The Terror Triplets" to maintain our leads. Have KD to close out the 4th for us if we're not blowing out teams...
Nothing about the Rockets moves or actions over the last few months seems to indicate they're going to have any further patience with Cam. Udoka seems to dislike him and he's got the keys to the car - keep an eye out for Marcus Smart and Robert Williams and other Udokafaves.
Exactly, I know people are saying we should bring in another shooter, but there just aren't out there for the money we have - and we have shooters already that didn't play in Reed and Cam, I believe they may get a shooter but not until they start the season with what we have. Maybe we sign fringe players like McVeigh, but I don't see us bringing in a big name. Just my .02. DD
I don't think Stone will do that because of their contracts and what that does to the roster overall..... Marcus Smart is not a shooter, and would be a downgrade on this team, and he makes 21m this year, whom would we give up to get to that salary match? Same for Williams at nearly 14m - and we should have learned how bad it is to go get former players after all the trash we brought in with JVG...would like Williams though, if healthy. DD
But we don't have the ability to do that again until December when we could trade FVV - which was my point, I think we go into this season pretty much as is and adjust at trade deadline if necessary. DD
I think we're going after Gary Trent Jr, Alexander-Walker...also, I think we're gonna pick up Aaron Holiday's team option and try Reed again at the backup pg spot...If Reed struggles, we'll pick up a solid veteran pg during buyout season around trade deadline. I think our focus is backup sg going into free agency especially 3 point shooting for better spacing.
I would really love to have NAW, but if Tari is healthy and takes another step by reducing his mistakes on both ends, he's clearly a better (and younger) player IMO. I'll say it again: I think this forum is seriously overlooking Tari right now. Too much focus on Jabari, Cam and Reed. Tari is the forgotten man.
Let Cam play and I think a lot of people will become fans. The "trade talk" is a bunch of clickbait. I hope the Rockets give Cam minutes before they make a decision on him. Look at his first year stats - he was a good rookie in this league. Then they drafted a guard and pushed him down the depth chart and he got pouty (it wasn't even that bad).
So you're just willing to disregard the fact that Cam missed defensive assignments, had piss poor body language when he didn't get his way, pouted when his minutes weren't just handed to him, AND went public with his complaints after a run of like 3 good games?? How can anybody reward that behavior at this high of a level when you have guys like Tate who have literally hustled, grinded, and sacrificed their entire lives for this opportunity?? I'm not saying you cut or trade Cam based on his behavior in one season, but it's crazy to me that you're willing to ignore everything that kid has shown just because of some blind faith you have in his potential. Make him earn it. If he's the player you think he is, he'll rise above and get there.
This seems accurate tbh. As much as I'd love for Cam to get a shot here, Udoka really seems out on him. It's probably the sulking and not getting back on D, you can only do that so much with a Udoka type. I think he still has some value though, and they managed to spin sugar out of **** with Jalen so maybe they can actually use him to bring back a piece that fits the vision better with actual on court value rather than another warm stretch of pine?
A second year player going public with his complaints is never a good look, especially when he absolutely has deficiencies in his game that he needs to tend to. I don't want to trade him, but this scrubbing of his attitude problems has to stop. The kid needs to work on his game AND his character. Period.
He didn't though, he was asked and he said he didn't know and was frustrated by his play. Cam to me is just a competitor who was frustrated, he didn't ask out, he didn't demand a trade, he just answered a question. And there is nothing that shows Udoka is out on him, that is just made up nonsense. If a coach can't handle a young talented player being frustrated, he is the wrong coach. DD
I mean I was getting deeply skeptical of Jalen and I still think Cam's time here is coming to an end. When guys are that visibly unhappy they're usually not with an organization much longer. I suspect they're just looking for a good trade that helps them balance out the roster and improve the bench.
If you think Shams is going on ESPN and just spitballing random guesses, I dunno what to tell you. You don't have to agree with it and that's fine, but if Shams goes out of his way to mention a specific name as a trade candidate, it's because people in the league have reasons to believe he's available. Now whether it actually happens or not, that's obviously a different story.
They have up to the $14.1 million NT-MLE after Fred's restructure, and only one team in the entire league (Brooklyn) has cap space. There will definitely be quality shooters available for that
