With Dillon Brooks gone, we probably still need one more good on ball defender. Yes, Amen is great. But a good defensive team should always have 2 or more. We only have 1 right now.

I think he is saying that it’s just not necessary. Sitting out the next two drafts is fine. Especially when we could have two Top 5 picks in 2027.

yeah that’s a smart approach lol. I’m sure that’s what a dumb team like OKC would do.

I’d love for us to go up and get Fleming or Reynaud but I’m just not sure what we would trade, doesn’t seem to be a lot of scenarios that makes sense.

today i would see if i could trade tari for

rasheer and a future first or 2 future seconds
maxime and a future first or 3 seconds
kalk and a future first or 4 seconds
adou and a future first and second or 4 seconds

I would buy a pick to land these guys in this order

any of the above if possible (probably not possible)

Chaz Lanier - 2 way or if he would agree to minimum salary deal for 4 seasons with team option on 4th year
Micah Peavy - 2 way or if he would agree to minimum salary deal for 4 seasons with team option on 4th year
    Ryan Nembhard - 2 way
rocco zikarsky if he will agree to work out all summer in houston and accept staying in australia one more season
Dink Pate - see if he will work with amen (2-way)
    Max Shulga

He’s not a good on ball defender. He might play some good off ball defense, get steals on the passing lines. But he took too many risk moves or some dumb fouls, loose positions etc. definitely not the same level as Dillon

Elite organizations look for improvements at the margins. They try to maximize assets and talent, through all 15 spots and both 2ways. Not just lotto talents and big free agency signings.

You look at teams like the Heat and Warriors who have routinely turned 2nds and undrafted guys into key contributors over the years.

Houston post Morey has been fairly woeful in this space. The only meaningful addition we’ve made of a rookie outside of the top 20 since 2019 is Jae’Sean Tate / KJ Martin, and even then we failed to maximize their value by not trading him them at their peaks. 6 years is very long time to not have a few more end of roster guys turned into value.

The idea that if you draft top talent you just have to abandon all other young players is silly, in 2014 the Nuggets drafted Nurkic 16th overall, they could have sat on that pick and said “hey we have to focus on this guy”, but instead took a VERY similar player mold at 41 in the very same draft that turned out to be Jokic.

What could we possibly do to get into the top five of the second round? And I’m not talking about trading rotation players.

do we even have any future second rounders left or with the contract of Landale be enough value?

Looks more like Al Jefferson/Chuck Hayes than Dillon Brooks now.

That shot looks easy as hell to block. Brings the ball down and a slow release to top it off.
