Udoka: Cam, you are going to be our 6th man. Cam: Bet coach, that mean I'm playing 48 minutes a night? Udoka: Never mind, pack your bags and go play in the G League.
It is the same thing with wood, kpj, green and now Cam. People trying to argue they are punished or judged because of non sports things or their defensive attitude, assuming that their offense is good. The fact is that their offense has major holes to fill and that is mainly why they don’t play, at least on good teams. If you are really good on offense, coaches will play you and try to find ways to work out with your defense. That’s exactly what happened with Sengun. Cam is just way too one dimensional on offense to be part of a winning team. That is why he got cut and pouting made it worse.
Sort of, the difference is Sengun had NO competition really, we always had throw always as his comp...until Adams and even he is an older guy who is more of a defensive rebounding stalwart. Cam has been playing behind guys drafted at number 2 in Jalen and guys traded for to come in and start like Brooks - he was rightfully so, a little down the pecking order. Where I think Ime screwed the pooch was in playing Holiday and Tate over him, that was short sighted IMHO....Cam should have been getting those minutes same for Reed. But can't cry over spilled milk, new season, new opportunity and the fact that the org didn't trade him when Phx asked for him is a big tell in what they think, same for Tari. DD
Chances are, if we do not trade Cam, we use the NT-MLE and that player gets a lot more minutes over Cam and the same people complain
I don't think so, I think they split up the MLE and pick up some backend talent like Jeenathan to fill out the roster. DD
I mean, that's maybe where Stone screwed the pooch - Tate has been "not a part of our future plans" for like 4 years now - haha. I'm guessing he has just been on the roster as trade filler this whole time. Every now and again we bring him into the game hoping he can maintain that "solid dude who can help a contending team in a pinch" role we would like to market him as....and then we magically turned into the "contending team" who needed Tate's availability over Cam's promise.
(Maybe if we gave Francis as much time and attention as you want to give Cam . . . as we gave green . . .maybe. . . . ) We will have to see him put it together His shot seems . . meh He does seem to have tunnel vision when he has the ball that is probably the worse thing I don't want a Kobe styled chucker Rocket River
WTF is your deal with Francis, he got the ball the day he was signed and got plenty of playing time, he was awesome for a while, until he became a drunk and drank himself out of the league. As for the rest, watch that video - you can't even put a highlight reel that good with Jalen stuff, Cam is playing D in a lot of that video....he just needs to mature....and he will/hopefully. DD
I dunno. We make the playoffs and gave up massive assets for a lateral move that did not move the team forward in anyway form or fashion . . .for a glorified chucker who did nothing to make the team any better than if we had stayed put I mean . .. he was no VSpan PAdgeOfHonor or Cam Whitemore but . .. . Francis was better than all of them LMAO Rocket River
Cam has to put up or shut up. This is his "make or break" year with the Rockets. If he can hit 3-pointers and play intelligently, excellent. If he doesn't and continues the clown act, Rockets will trade him during the season and be better off for it.
OK, no argument - Francis was amazing, you didn't like the Tmac trade - fair - I did, injuries derailed that team, but so what, that was over a decade ago. Here, maybe this helps....you were RIGHT....heheh Now, let's stick to the current team, I don't have the capacity to argue old **** that doesn't matter anymore. DD
Click bait.... No sources speculation and no way are you trading Cam for a 2nd round pick, come on people. Plus his contract is super low for his production, so to upgrade you would need more roster disruption - it is just logic if you look at it. If we wanted to trade him we would have included him when Phx asked for him. He might be traded in the future though, if he doesn't work out. DD
“Cam Whitmore is a young player with talent that has gotten interest around the league,” Shams Charania says. “You could potentially move him for draft capital or a player that can help you now.” Shams just randomly throwing this out there for giggles Where are you getting that PHX asked for Cam?
Heh... True. But also players like Reed and Cam need to outcompete the NBA journeymen on our bench like Tate and Holiday if they are really good.
The way I see it, Cam got enough minutes to show his skill set and potential, intention and dedication to improve and he didn’t use them well. One possible explanation is he thinks he is better than he actually is and that usually points to lack of understanding the fundamentals of the game, which is the biggest obstacle to becoming a solid nba player.
Sometimes coaches need to take a longer view and play guys that are developing over established mediocre players because it benefits the team in the end. I think Ime needs to still learn that lesson. DD
