Amen in 4 years will be an all nba player and DPOY candidate. Players need time to develop or do you think SGA, Halliburton, Brunson, etc were dominating in year 2?

So if they're gonna be that good why we even need Giannis?

So why we even need Giannis then? I rather pay our young guys than Giannis.

You cant talk both sides out of your mouth and say our guys are scrubs and we need old guys like Giannis to get it done and then somehow say our guys will be future superstars and will get it done when the old guys get washed.

KD is one thing cuz he only cost 1 young guy in Jalen Green to get moved but Giannis will mean gutting the roster cuz we wont have money to pay the rookie extensions.

Because they aren’t good enough right now but will be when Giannis is on the downslope

If you get Giannis they wont be there when Giannis is on the downslope. We already have KD if they really good enough KD is more than enough to win a title.

Part of trading is knowing when to stop look at PHX they traded the farm for KD ok. Instead of rolling with Cp3, Toumani Camara and Ayton the Suns went full r****d and brought in Beal and Nurkic. How did that work out? If they just stopped with KD they would have been contenders maybe even won the ring this year.

We brought KD to win now and supplement the 2nd seed in the West. No need to go all in and destroy even more of the team for short term gain.

I preached discounted stars for this reason and we got one of them. The other, Harden, could help us. Giannis is fools gold and his entire game is athleticism unlike Durant. He would gut our team in assets and likely declines sharply with injuries in the next couple of years. His talent set clashes with ours. How does he affect our rim chasers? There is only so much space and loose baskets available you would be trading buckets we already get than creating anything. Love the player but like AD he is a C masquerading as a 4 because he doesn’t like the low post physicality.

You’re keeping Amen, Tari, and Bari in this scenario and once Durant is off the books, you can give Amen his hopefully well deserved max.

I’m not necessarily advocating to go all in on Giannis. But for Sengun, Reed, Cam, and picks I’d definitely be tempted.

Definitely don't want Giannis now. We don't need him any more and it'd definitely take away a lot more of our youth. We good now, we got KD, we just need more minor tweaks now to cement us as contenders.

Sam Amick DEFINITELY (not probably) does not have a clue and is talking out of his ass. Stone is not stupid enough to trade a 12+ year window for a 3-4 year window. The only reason the Rockets are brought up for this is the assets they have.

I think signing Durant put us out of the running on Giannis. It will take too much of a roster overall and expend maybe 2 of our core and mulitple picks, thus wrecking our flexibility and putting us in the 2nd Apron for sure. We should just add a combo guard with the NT-MLE through trade and go from there, unless a youngish star shakes loose somehow.

Trading the core for KD and Giannis would feel so dirty even if we won a chip.

SGA put up 23/5/6 on 50/40/80 shooting splits in year 3. Haliburton put up 21/4/10 on 49/40/87 split in year 3. Sengun put up 21/9/5 in his 3rd year. Amen put up 16/9/5 and 3.3 steals+blocks on 56% shooting since becoming the starter last year. There are obviously exceptions, but generally players are end up being stars were already good early on.

I mean we just did this with Jalen. People saying just wait just wait and then the Rockets traded him. Usually if a player is forcing you to wait forever, it means he's not a future star.

Compare Sengun and Giannis at the same age.

    It's closer than you think....

If Sengun ends up 80% the player Giannis is it would be foolish to trade 15 years of that for 5 of Giannis.

I don't think we have the salaries to matchup without Sengun... so I don't think it happens unless they aren't very good at the deadline.

Agreed. I fully expect improvement to a consideration for all star for Amen in year 3 and by year 4 I believe he will be an all NBA player.

Green was given his 4 years and his shot and decision making never improved.

I think you are spot on. I think if he is starting all year he will be DPOY and an all-star if he is played in the appropriate offensive position which is PG. On defense he plays the other teams best perimeter player. At PG, his line will look something like this 19 pts, 8 assists, 10 rebounds, 2 stls, 2 blocks. Might even be considered 3rd team all NBA.

I think we have a better shot at a championship next year with our present core + KD than with Giannis, KD and a skeleton crew.

Plus we maintains our assets and our window is open for a decade as opposed to 3 years.

I don't think Giannis makes sense for win now or long term.
