Would trade tari and cam for Coward Would also buy a second for Rocco if he would agree to work out in Houston all summer and be stashed a year in NBL Would also trade tari for rasheer
Any good places to catch the draft? Last couple times I went places and they have the Astros on and the draft is on one TV in the corner.
I can think of lots of reasons, do we trust Tari and Adams to stay healthy? Even if they stay healthy there will likely be measures taken to limit their b2bs. Cam has talent but it doesn't matter what we think, it matters what Ime thinks. He may even demand a trade sometime in the next year, and I wouldn't blame him if he was only getting a few minutes a night. Cheap contracts and potential draft and stash are two more reasons it might make sense to get into the draft. Most importantly, we NEED an Adams backup. Double Big is too impactful, I'd like to see a poor man's Adams get picked up.
I love the speculation because I hate not having a draft pick, but I'll be surprised if we trade into the 1st round. The best target is obviously one of Nets 4 (19, 22, 26 & 27) picks in latter half. Trading their 2027 swap back would have to be attractive to their GM, but what else could Stone talk him out of them? A NYK 1st in 27 or 29, or maybe restock our 2nd round picks. While sending Cam out is popular, I'm hoping they don't and he actually gets a shot in the rotation next year. If we don't get a 1st. maybe we can buy a 2nd and pick up a big man project who can hone his skills in RGV until we need him.
yeah I think you are right; the chances of trading back into the 1st round has to be low. However, for those questioning why we’d make a pick this year, I say that ideally you want at least one new potential rotational player on a rookie scale deal every year if you can. Feels like rookie scale contracts are increasingly important in the new “apron” world we live in. I also think it’s an opportunity to create value. If you make a good pick with a pick in the later rounds, that player will likely be more valuable than the value of the pick itself. Of course it also works in the opposite way if you don’t draft well. I feel like Eli really thrives drafting in the middle/late 1st round. Sitting out a draft is not ideal even if you have a bunch of young talent already. We are obviously in good shape but if there’s a guy we have conviction about, I hope we find a way to snatch them up. I wouldn’t touch our 2027 picks because we have double the chance at the top pick. But I would trade the second most favorable of the 2029 picks (as another poster suggested) or one of our own future picks, or even Cam if Ime was ready to move on.
I don’t think the Rockets a have a draft pick in 2026 either. But that’s okay, they have lots of youth, and they have lots of talent there.
