Rockets were 26-8 last year when Jalen shot>.500eFG%. KD did that in 80% of his games

I am making this comp because KD and Jalen last year had similar quantity of shots, and KD likely will handle a lot of the role that Jalen took on last year. Last season, the Rockets success correlated pretty highly with how efficiently Jalen was on any particular night. When Jalen shot even decently well, as I am setting a mark way below league average eFG% of .543, the Rockets were on a 60-win pace. Problem? The Rockets were only 26-19 (47-win pace) when he couldn't hit that mark. I'm removing the 3 tanking games from this equation fwiw since those were scheduled losses. But even then, he couldn't hit the paltry > .500 eFG mark for half his games. And he couldn't hit that mark in 6 out of his 7 playoff games.

Meanwhile, KD can hit that mark with ease. Even post-injury, he shot over .500 eFG% in 21 of his 31 playoff games. The man is an efficiency monster and I think the Rockets are the 2nd best team in the NBA in games where he plays. They just need to make sure he gets through the season properly paced, so he can be healthy through the playoffs.

As our fellow poster said in the Amen thread, having KD is like having hot Jalen every game.

Win rate would be good for 62 wins.

It's just so surreal. Here we were talking about potential marginal upgrades like Lavine or Booker, and instead we got KD and we barely even had to give anything up to do so. Because we managed to retain most of our depth on a super successful team last year, we should be able to afford KD the luxury of not having to play even the same number of minutes as Jalen, and he'll give us more production on less minutes. It's here, we're real contenders. Is this the quickest rebuild in history?

I firmly believe that if Jalen Green had an average BBIQ he would be an Allstar.

How about this, we were 20-19 on the 39 games(!!!!!!!!!!) Jalen shot under 40%. 32-11 when he shot over 40% or a 61 win pace.

KD shot under 40% 6 times.

It would help if he had an average jumpshot too.

Our defense was so good that with any kind of efficient scoring we absolutely could not lose.

Rockets were 13-1 when Jalen scored at least 30 points...Jalen scored at least 30 in 17% of his games

KD did that 21 times in 62 games this season (34% of the time), and in 27 of 75 games the previous year (36% of the time)

if OKC relaxes during the regular season after winning a title, and KD can give us around 70 games, there is a world where the Rockets end up as the #1 seed with HCA in the WCF and possibly even the Finals

the Rockets were starving for consistent offense in order to make the next leap, and now they have it
