Nice deal for Kyrie given he’s going to miss this upcoming season

Hmm. I think FVV and Green did not get along. FVV said I will renegotiate if you move Green for someone that gives us a shot at a title. And here we are. I think it speaks mainly of the vision that Ime has for the franchise and that Stone and Tilman are 100% bought in.

Fred has not done a quick renegotiation, if they were locked in and on the same page with him you’d think it would be done right now. Holding on to potentially pick up his option indicates that we are heavily considering trading him and or can’t come to an agreement right now

keep in mind Kyrie played all-NBA equivalent basketball last year before he got hurt. Also the Mavs have no leverage with Kyrie because they made a win-now bet with the Anthony Davis trade. Kyrie being there was the most important part of that calculation. A generous Kyrie extension was inevitable. The Mavs had no choice. They desperately needed Kyrie beyond this year. We only for sure need Fred this coming season. We have the assets to upgrade or backfill that position or Reed could take a leap. We are not in the same position as the Mavs. And Fred is not Kyrie. If Fred won’t play for fair value we bite the bullet and pick up his option. But we shouldn’t be conned into a multi-yr deal at premium money after the season he had. He may legitimately be a declining player.

The Houston Rockets are declining Fred VanVleet’s $44 million option and intend to sign him to a 2-year, $88 million contract, sources tell ESPN. The deal includes a player option for the 2027-28 season.

In all seriousness, I expect a new deal any day now. Any minute now.

I just don't fully understand the disdain so many have with FVV. Is he a top 10 star? No. But he showed up. He made a difference in a positive way and we when we needed him he was always there. We don't make it to game 7 without him.

Every player has limitations. But not every player has heart. FVV does and it's been contagious in the culture of the team.

I dont mind FVV coming back, but for 65/3 (team option 3rd), if Rockets are really desperate 85/3 (same team option).

Thanks for sharing. I do believe Malik at the MLE would be a great grab.

Wait, you mean Beasley not Sealy, right? Lol. Sealy has been dead for sometime.

I think Green didn't defer to him and would take over to show he can play combo guard. Honestly, Green is a great offensive guard who learned a lot defensively from Ime in two seasons. He will likely thrive in a new system that is more offensive focused that is into averaging 115ppg as a team. The lessons he learned with Ime will last through his career. Curious to see how the next 8 years will be with him. He's a good kid.
