Exactly. We all have our brain farts but I've seen from a couple of posters (or is it the same one?) a mention of moving Amen Thompson to the bench. Greater players than Amen have played sixth man before but usually not on the upward curve. Amen is going to start. Especially after the playoffs: "Good Lawd, this Amen Thompson is a defensive freak."
In all likelihood Sengun will still be the Rockets best overall player with Amen behind him and KD behind him.... that's potentially 3 top 30 players in the NBA.
Bari is a better shooter than Jalen. KD is a better shooter than Brooks.so we upgraded shooting in two spots.
And we have a non-shooter on the offensive end who plays off the ball. What is your point? Amen can sub for many people, he's the most versatile defender we have. That will lead to starters minutes regardless. If it was up to me I would have him play 20 minutes as PG, FVV playing 20-25, then 15+ resting Jabari. With the goal he's starting PG by end of year....
And thanks to Jalen being gone, Reed and Whitmore will get more run. Who are also both better shooters than Jalen. The "jaters" aren't just being hard on Jalen when they say him being gone even without Durant coming here would make us better. It really is addition by subtraction. His absence opens up those shots to be taken by much better shooters that were already on the team. The fact that you add the best shooter in the world is a bonus. One heck of a bonus.
Alp is most definitely the best player on the team not names KD. Amen might surpass him, but he’s not there yet.
Oh is that who he was talking about? Weird. By several metrics Sengun was a top 15 player in the NBA last year as a 22 year old.
Sengun was better last season overall than KD. I get who KD once was, but he's nearly as old as Jalen Green's old lady and he's had a torn Achilles in the past.
Exactly. Just like you saw SGA punish the league with his CP3 FT Line Fadeaway Jumper over and over. The great ones have go to spots, hopefully Amen can develop that shot more, it's very effective.
Who you are on the floor with and who you are opposing makes a difference. Winning the first quarter is important. It’s not about total minutes. If I have the best defensive player in the league, I want him guarding the opponents best player the maximum number of minutes. Why have other guys guarding the SGA’s of the world for the first 8 mins or so and then subbing Amen in when the opposing team sends their best player to the bench for rest? It’s all moot. There is no way Amen goes back to the bench other than injury.
In retrospect it's weird how many people in this thread believed that Jalen wouldn't be traded for KD because "KD wants to play with Jalen." Despite zero reputable sources like Shams or Amick or Lowe ever talking about it.
