Yeah, it's highly doubtful that the Rockets will rely on Sheppard and Whitmore to play major roles off the bench. There are probably a few more moves to be made by Stone this off-season.
Yes…but mostly because it’s a low risk, high reward move. I have my doubts on his availability d/t age and use but we didn’t give up much.
Draft picks are always good trade fodder. I mean, with a #10, on average you will get a solid role player. That bunch of 2nd round picks, I really don't care. This is not the NFL, where fresh meat is important. In the NBA, skill matters.
My only concern with this trade is the age gap. We could easily end up with a SGA saga on our hands. Giving up a 23 year old with so much super star potential for a 36/37 year old is always hesitant. I really hope we can win a ring in the next 2 years, and we also need Cam and Reed to become stars too. If not, I think this trade could comeback to haunt us.
I might watched too few Rockets games, but how on earth can we compare Jalen Green to SGA? How good was SGA in Jalens current point of career?
Glenn Davis wasn't a part of the Bagwell trade, he was moved to Baltimore in '91 for some bums named Pete Harnisch, Curt Schilling, and Steve Finley, broke his finger in a barfight the NEXT WEEK, and was basically washed up 2 years later. Many regard THAT as the single worst trade in baseball history. But most Stros fans would pick: The Baggy trade the year before, when a sretch-run Red Sawkx franchise still tryna Reverse The Curse decided that Larry Andersen was the missing ingredient ( spoiler: he wasn't). While they did win the division ( pre- realignment, pre- wild card, only 4 playoff spots, 2 rounds) , the lost to the Mark McGwire-Jose Canseco A's, who then got immediately railed and swept in the 1990 World Series, by, wait for it....the wire-2-wire NL Comedy Central-winning "Nasty Boys" Cincinnati Reds, who havent won a playoff series since then... But I get your point about the trade
MVP good, basically, so we can throw that comparison right out the window. SGA's shadow can outplay Jalen Green
Yes I am Happy. Sure I would have liked it if Durant was a bit younger, but if that was the case he would have costs us a lot more. That being said I am happy because: At this moment Durant is the type of player we need and it didn't cost us as much as a younger star player would The Rockets are finally done with trying to make Green the primary player. This has been so frustrating the last couple of years. Even if Durant retires soon, we are not stuck with the contract of Green and then we will be able to pay our young players. I am happy we kept Smith. I think he will be very useful in the right role in the coming years.
It's not ideal, as in, if we had drafted Evan Mobley over Jalen Green, then we wouldn't be in this situation. KD is a consolation prize for who we could've had, and for keeping the core instead of pursuing Giannis. That said, if we compete for titles, then it'll have been the right call.
I just hope there was a mutual agreement between Stone & Ime that if Ime gets what he wants in Durant than Stone will get the development and respectable play time for Reed & Cam this year. Probably told him Jabari better start too
Yet here you dine with the KD in Rockets uniform in your profile pic. If Jalen Green pans out for the Suns, I'm happy for him and the franchise. There is almost no way JG was going to look good on this roster, he's not a defensive-minded player and his offensive game just doesn't fit our role players. As for JG's future, JG, Book, Beal all play the same position. Suns have their work cut out for them to move more pieces around. I will say, JG will improve in the next 2 seasons so he can get another big money contract on year 3. But that's about it. He's not here or there to bring a championship in the defensive-minded game. He made that clear in this post-season.
Lol "up-and-coming star" now that's hilarious. So how many more seasons before he's a starting caliber player? Will it happen by the time he's 30?
If the trade had been done years ago, it would have been great. KD is well past his prime and has missed a lot of time in recent seasons. Frankly, I don't think we will actually see him on the court very much. Maybe sitting on the sidelines soaking up money. I so hope I am wrong. I really do.
3 years. I am hoping that out of the three years we get at minimum two where he is healthy for the playoffs. I’m hoping that he plays about 55 to 60 games a year during the regular season. I don’t know why people are so pessimistic about this. He’s super tall and he’s the best all-around shooter ever. Those qualities aren’t going away.
The trade is addition by subtraction (Jalen). It was worth it just to get out of his terrible contract. KD is just the cherry on top.
Yes. Jalen had more than enough time to show that he's the guy. Maybe we'll regret this in some years but im good with old KD.
