Yeah, different player, not rebuilding but retooling.....but I do think they can tank one year and by the time their stars get healthy they probably have a high pick.....

Much like Dallas did before Luka and Kyrie made the Finals, they semi tanked for Lively II.

They probably have to get a defensive dawg to replace Jrue.

His girl is actually decently looking, not that hot but one you could bring to a fine dining.

Prefty obvious boston wanted to get younger cheaper.

Holiday would be 2 years older by the time tatum can play again

I don't understand why the Blazers make this trade but it's probably something simple as they were a few games from the play-in and weren't going to pay Simmons and was happy to take back a championship level vet to contend for a playoff spot.

Never underestimate how many owners just want competitive teams, hell man, that's like most of the owners in the East who make moves to happily become mediocre teams.

Boston is content with being a low Playoff seed or Play In for now with the injuries.

How the mighty have fallen, Orlando wanted Simons badly......now they got a Celtics type of guy Bane.

Sometimes I really feel owners and or GMs respect Celtics alumni / associates too much. Stevens coming to the Blazers owner with this offer, they drop a few IQ points “Ooh it’s from the Celtics, it must be a good deal.” Calls his GM and says: "Do it!”

Not seeing the logic of this trade for the Blazers.

They didnt wanna pay Simmons 27M but will gladly pay Jrue's 100 contract and 2 2nd rounders on top of that?

I personally think this is a Nico Harris type of dumb trade I mean at least AD is a superstar when healthy and would prob be ranked over Luca if they were the same age. This just doesnt make any sense, Celtics got out of salary, got the more valuable player and also came away with 2nd round picks lol wtf

Not saying I agree with the trade, but I do understand it. Simons isn't a star and is a defensive liability, but will expect to be paid like a star. He's kind of a purgatory tweener, not unlike Jalen Green, albeit he's better. If you aren't a "star" scorer, and bring nothing else your relative importance to a contender plummets.

They didn't view Simons as a player to build around or pay huge money, and they think Holiday can help them get farther now. It opens up shots for other players they do believe in to develop while giving them meaningful experience winning.

At least on paper, with all of these injuries out east the West is gonna be tougher than ever next season.

I can understand the Blazers wanting to bring in Jrue's leadership with their team becoming more competitive. I can understand the Blazers deciding they no longer need Anfernee Simon's offensive output. But when I saw they had swapped Simons and Jrue, I assumed the Blazers were getting a 1st rounder or at least a couple second rounders. Why in the world is it Boston getting compensated to take on less salary in a younger player?
