    According to Bobby Marks:

    To Boston

    Anfernee Simons: $25.9M, $27.7M (UFA, 2026)

    • The Celtics get off the combined $72M owed to Holiday in 2026-27 and 2027-28

    • Projected $40M in tax savings in 2025-26

    • $18M below the 2nd apron

    • Simons is extension eligible
    To Portland

    Jrue Holiday: $30M, $32.4M, $34.8M, $37.2M (Player, 2027)

    Simon’s is better than Jalen.

Simons can’t play defense to save his life. Jalen was an average defender this past year

I’d bet everything that we would’ve advanced if we had Simons instead of Jalen.

Not a fan of the thread title, just say what is happening. Also, this signals the opposite to me, that Bos wants to remain competitive.

I'm trying to figure out the Blazers viewpoint here.

    Why do you take Jrue?

Ive always been a big fan of Jrue but according to Boston fans, they feel like they fleeced the Blazers. No matter how you feel about this, I too am curious on why Portland makes this trade.

I dont think it signals anything they just wanted to save 40M.

Whats crazy to me is Portland doing this when they need to tank and also only for 2 second rounders. Taking on that much salary I remember Cleveland got a top 4 pick for taking on Baron Davis contract back in the day now Portland takes on a boatload salary for only 2 second rounders? Huh? lol

They got a nice young up and coming player for an older player on a multi year bloated contract. They totally fleeced them.

I don’t understand this for blazer! They couldn’t even fetch a st rounder for taking on his contract and giving up their best player? Wtf

Why are the Blazers giving picks to get Holiday in this scenario?!?

I get that they want to clear the SG spot for Sharpe. That makes sense - I suppose they think Scoot is still at least another year away (from ever being ready...)

Need veteran leadership for their young squad - taking a page from our book of bringing in FVV to create a new culture.
Also, they were playing good basketball making a push for the play-in, but they fell off in April.
