Would that be enough to get Lavine or Sexton? I think they’d ask for more picks. Cashing in the PHX picks for say Lavine seems like an overpay, but if you just traded for a 37 yo I can see Stone wanting to maximize this 2-3 year window. FVV/Reed LaVine Amen/Tari Durant/Bari Sengun/Adams I’d give Reed the backup SG minutes too so he can get a consistent 20 minutes per game. I’d be tempted. You’re adding a great outside shooter and scorer costing you only future draft picks and Cam.
We don't NEED a SG. Others have already gone over that, pointing out the obvious that Amen is going to start at the 2, and that Cam is going to get a shot to be the backup, and, me personally, I believe in Cam and want him to get that consistent shot finally. However, if the org is soured on Cam due to him being a malcontent last year over his role, then we do have options. Especially with the team being firmly in contention, they may want to hedge their bets at guard on someone who is more of a proven vet, as compared to Reed and Cam. It'd be a shame if this great opportunity to contend was spoiled by neither of the young guards we are banking on taking a big step up from where they were last season. So, with that in mind, we have two main options: 1) Trade Cam Whitmore, cut Landale and Holiday, get Fred on a smaller deal, and open up the full MLE to pursue a vet free agent: The issue with this plan is there is really only 1 free agent good enough to warrant this play, and that is Alexander-Walker, and he is a RFA, who the Wolves can just match on. There's other guys, like Gary Trent and Beasley, but they just aren't worth the full MLE or dumping Whitmore and Holiday over. 2) Package Whitmore with the salaries of Landale and Holiday and go get a vet: The first option that comes to my mind for this one is Divencenzo, or maybe a sign and trade for Alexander-Walker. But there are other good backup SGs in this price range. Malik Monk for instance would be great. The list for this goes on, but Monk and Divencenzo are the two tops of my list for this strategy. Now, again, I believe in Cam, and want the team to just let him have this role and see what he can do. If it doesn't work out, then you can resort to a mid-season trade. But, I definitely see the argument for trying to go for that vet guard right from the start, given the stage of competition this team is looking like they're going to be in.
Someone was saying this is probably the last yr we can use our MLE. Can anyone confirm if it’s $5.6 mil for Houston?
If we renegotiate Fred's contract down to like 25 per, and cut Landale and Holiday, we'd be able to have the entire non-tax payer MLE of 14.1 mill. We can definitely have the 5.6 mill tax payer MLE if we renegotiate Fred, and i think we can get it as well if we cut Landale and Holiday.
I have a feeling about Bruce Brown. The connection with Ime and KD Jalen and Brooks are gone with KD sliding into the front court, positionally opening up minutes at guard. Brown has that level of energy and defensive intensity that we just lost with Brooks. We also could be losing Tate who’s a dog for team practice. The shooting isn’t great, but he’s a playoff performer, we have the need, MLE money, and he’s available.
We can't afford Lavine, making way too much money. Sexton you can make a trade work. I don't really know what his current value is on the market but I'm not giving up the PHX or BKN swapped picks for him.
He needs to feature, he is that good of a shooter. Philly would be stupid to let him go now that he has broken out. DD
The late FRP are the best way to keep the payroll down, and filled with talent. Controlled contracts that can be extended for upwards of 7 years. All kinds of things could/should happen on Wednesday.
Grimes is about to get paid. Only thing we have is hometown love and him taking a 1 year cheap deal to prove it again, I see Morey giving him 20 mill a year.

Doubt Gary Trent Jr will take the taxpayer MLE. Sam Merril or Kennard? I love Brogdon when he’s playing, but he can’t stay on the court. Could try to get him on a vet minimum maybe.
I’m hoping next year is Cam Whitmore’s arrival party and he blows up next to Durant & Amen. With Sengun, Adams and Bari holding down the inside, it would be nice.With Reed Sheppard finding his footing and showing what he can do. Man next year could be exciting!
