If they exercise the option we're definitely trading for another star, no reason to do it otherwise. I expect they'll decline and get him on a new deal though

Depends on if FVV is part of a trade for Giannis.

Holy crap it's 45 million! Decline that easily. He's worth about 19 million. How is he getting franchise money

This is odd, I kind of take it as a sign that we could be far apart with Fred here.

Fred has the whole "bet on yourself" mentality/thing and might be the type of guy who's hell bent on maximizing his money. After a down year, he might not be willing to accept a long term deal market value. It would be bizarre but I suppose he could threaten to take off on a 1 year MLE deal elsewhere if we decline his option.

if team option is exercised i could see a trade for Giannis happening, something like FVV and Sengun......

Giannis situation isn't like KD's, the people of Wisconsin love him.

It will drag out longer because he has to come to terms with breaking up with the only franchise that believed in him.

2/50 is fair value for what he brings to the team.

I hope stone is still negotiating with other pg’s on the market. Don’t put all your eggs in that FVv basket

I am pretty sure we will resign him. Durant is great, but he is not a leader. Fred and Dillon were the leaders of this team. Dillon is gone, we need Fred to set the tone and lead this team. I know he can be boneheaded and I know he was expensive and I know there are better leaders than him out there. But for us, he is the best available. Plus we don´t really have another PG on the roster. Yeah, Amen, Reed and Holiday kinda, but none of them is really a pure PG. We need FVV. And I think there is no other team, that will value him as high as us and I also think, that he appreciates the chance to lead this team from sucking for 3 straight years to the 2nd place finish and then ultimately a championship.

So yeah, anything from 20-25 million per year for 2-3 years would be great for me!

What are you going to do? We're not in a good negotiating position. Udoka has a hard-on for FVV. We've revealed through Iko that we're going to go with an ultra-slow lineup of Sengun/Durant/Jabari/Amen/FVV so you're in desperate need of a 90's style floor general. We've revealed that we don't believe in Amen to run the team as the primary ball handler or take a big step up in scoring. If we decline FVV's option, we have no options really since we'll then have to start a guy who couldn't win a single backup SG minute last season OR more non-shooters.

I think he'll get more than what the market would be willing to offer. I expect around $70m for 3 seasons with the final season being partially guaranteed.

I agree with all you said. It is inevitable that we will extend FVV. I will be somewhat relieved with your contract prediction, even though I think it is still an overpay. The biggest disappointment in the Durant trade was it solidified the fact that we are going to play a similar offense to last year, albeit with an upgrade on the perimeter with KD and Jabari back in the starting lineup. I do think the FVV/Sengun centric offensive style will have to be altered to satisfy Durant so hopefully FVV spends more time hanging out in the corner.

I gotta expect that if FVV's team option is exercised, it is because the team needs his salary for matching purposes. Dealing that much salary would have to be for someone good.

I do not think the Rockets value FVV at $44M.

QUESTION: Does Jrue Holiday being trade affect this decision.

Holiday is making like 30 million
    FVV is making 44 million

I'd rather sign Quentin Grimes to 3yr/$60M, Dennis Schroeder to 2yr/$20M as an insurance piece at PG and Bol Bol at 2yr/$10M.

With KD and Tari on the team maligned by injuries, we're going to need a strong bench.

Starters - Sengun, Jabari, KD, Amen and Grimes
Bench - Adams, Tari, Cam, Reed, Schroeder, Holiday, Bol Bol, Green, Tate

I would presume picking up the option would be for a Jaylen Brown or Devin Booker move, I just don’t think Milwaukee is going to blow it up and if they do, they would need their picks back. Suns on the other hand could get most of their future back through the Rockets and could use FVV, Brooks and Jalen (along with 2 of Jabari, Tari and Reed) to stay competitive enough until deadline to not fully bottom out. I’m also going to presume the Rockets are not doing either of those and FVV will be back on a restructured deal.
