I wasn’t excited about anyone that likely would be there at #10 so I’m thrilled we traded the pick as part of a package for an impact player. However, there is probably some good value in the late 1st round. Do the rockets find a way to trade back into this draft, or are we sitting it out? Keep in mind that we have no 2026 draft picks either. Would love to dip back into the late first for Walter Clayton or Fleming.
I want back in for Coward or Fleming personally. High floor guys that can likely contribute fairly early, especially in specialized roles. Hoping for Trey Murphy lite(Coward) and Naz Reid(Fleming) type production from those two if they hit.
I'd assume the only way it happens is if there's a Sengun situation. There were a lot of analytic models that had Sengun as a clear top-10 prospect. Hollinger had him as his 4th best prospect that year over Jalen Green for instance. Similar guy this year seems to be CMB. If the Rockets like him as much as some draft people think, and he drops to the 20s, I can see them try to trade back in.
Keep an eye out if he makes it to the 2nd. Though i fear another playoff team is going to snag him up in the 20s
I struggle to see what we could give up to get back in this draft. And I’m sure our front office is a lot more intrigued by 2026. Certainly we can afford to sit this one out but I don’t believe in forgoing successive drafts. I just think you need rookie scale prospects that can actually play cycling through your organization.
Unlikely - if Houston did it would probably be much later in the draft because Houston doesn't want to give up much in terms of assets AND there would have to be some players high on Houston's board that fell on other's boards similar to Sengun. I don't get the impression this year's class is deep enough to see that type of value late in the draft.
Our draft this year is Cam Whitmore and Reed Sheppard. I hear they are top tier and ready for minutes.
If I had to guess, I'm thinking no. A young draftee, will add some salary. Money seems to be tight. They have to decide on FVV's option. and look at Jeff Green and Aaron Holiday.
Those are the 2 best prospects that cover our weakness, a sg and a forward/center. They can easily be attained because they're overlooked. We need Cam and Jabari insurance
We don't need help, we have people that can play SG Durant, Tari, Cam, Holiday, FVV, Reed, all can play SG....Amen in a pinch.... DD
