Re-sign FVV for a longer deal at around $25M per season. Hope Beal gets bought out and sign him for close to vet min. Looney, Portis or Trent Jr (if no Beal) for MLE.
Nice but gotta throw Steven Adams in there to at the backup C FVV / Amen / KD / Smith / Sengun Sheppard / Cam / Tari / Adams Unless Sheppard and Whitmore suddenly make dramatic leaps, the Rockets may need to add a few more solid veteran pieces if they wish to truly contend. Plus, I think we'll have to see if Holiday and Landale are brought back at all.
Guard depth is badly needed. Ideally we can find someone with decent size who can hit 3s and at least do well with the team defense expectations. I want Cam and Reed to get their minutes, but if neither can get it done, we need someone besides Aaron Holiday.
Move 1: Save Boston a crapton of money by taking Hauser into the MLE (if we do this on draft day, we then have the 25/26 MLE available?). Cost to Boston is a simple flip of 2nd rounders (they give us 32 and we give them 60) Move 2: draft Drake Powell at 32 (currently slotted there per Tankathon). Super raw but very high talent GF to develop Move 3: Bring back Tate on vet min PG FVV / Reed / Holiday SG Amen / Cam / Nate / C Alpy / Stevie / Jock PF Jabari / Tari / Tate SF KD / Hauser / Powell Move 4: enjoy!!
This was a question before the trade, but I wonder what they are going to do for the third center. Adams will surely be load managed again through the year. I wonder if they'll just rely on Landale and Dante for depth or look elsewhere
I genuinely want to find a way to move FVV for Harden, then I'd move whatever other bits we had to try and somehow get Ty Jerome Harden/Jerome/Reed Amen/Reed/Jerome KD/Cam Bari/Tari Sengun/Adams That's a great 10 man rotation with Cam as your 10th man. We wouldn't even need an offensive coordinator with both Beard and KD, and we'd still have almost all of the pieces that made us a top defense. Insanity.
As much as I would love to swap FVV for Harden, I don't see Udoka/front office letting FVV walk...he's an instrumental piece of our defense. Dillon's role will be replaced by Tari
It's just crazy, his defense does not make up for the complete lack of offense in the backcourt. Whilst I'm glad we're not running it back, we replaced our shitty SG with another SF/PF, which we have in abundance even letting Dillon go. Harden is maybe the best offensive combo guard in history. In fact **** that, there's no maybe about it. If the front office had a way to do this, knowing James and KD can get along and enjoy playing with each other and they didn't try it it'd legit be criminal negligence/industrial sabotage in real terms lol. You're right though, we'll keep the slow, worse shooter than Jalen, midget who couldn't defend any actual star player or score like a star player, but gets paid like one. Crazy.
I can see Harden resting on defense and Udoka not having that...that will disrupt the team's chemistry. FVV is bought into the system, won a championship, and was an important piece to the Raptors championship run. I prefer Harden over FVV, but Fred fits Udoka system better.
