I wasn't for the KD trade but I was for getting rid of both Green and Brooks - and their contracts. The only thing that I hope doesn't bite us is who #10 turns into.

Suns trading for Green to have 3 ball-dominant SGs on their roster is giving me Deja vu to when they acquired 3 starting PGs in Dragic, IT and Eric Bledsoe. It didn’t work out back then and I’d frankly be shook if it works now.

Anywho, loving the trade for KD - I’m thankful for what Jalen provided for this team and the fact that he was a bright spot of hope during the Silas years but I was at the point of fully being resigned to the fact that he won’t become a 1A superstar. I think he can still carve out a good career for himself in the league as a microwave, off the bench scorer, but I’d rather have a few more years of KD than continuing to hold out on hope that Jalen turns a corner and becomes consistent.

I mentioned this in a separate thread as well, but holy crap I was pleasantly surprised to see that KD is still averaging 27 PPG. I figured an old man in his late 30s would’ve probably been averaging 20 or under.

 

KD is still good for 26/5/4 at 50/40/85 while receiving heavy defensive attention. Easy W for the Rockets. Getting rid of Jalen is addition by subtraction already, he showed us who he was for 4 years + playoffs.

 

Because second round picks sweeten deals like this one. They’re valuable to have, just have to replenish the cupboard.

 

Ran AI simulations, (it said 1000) if KD can stay healthy. If we get something like the 4th seed and the defense slips we were estimated to get to the second round where OKC gets us.

If we get the 2nd seed we have a shot at the WCF, but again OKC gets us unless we get fortunate and some young guys develop faster and hit shots.

Next year and the one after that are our best shots to maximize this short term move. The keys will be keeping KD healthy for the playoffs, high seeding and the youth taking a major leap next season.

Again, I would love and hope I'm wrong and we can exceed expectations again and attack this window. We'll see what happens
