I mean if we sign him that puts us into the 2nd apron?

We could extend him for a lessor amount but still puts us in cap problems as Tari and Bari need new contracts after this year.

    What do you guys think?

I believe we will extend him but if I were in charge, I would let him completely walk...and test the market....as there is none for him, at this time....and take that 40m off our books.

Team option so we at least have him for this year as we test the waters with Reed and then look for an upgrade. He’s not a priority after this year, but for now we need at least his voice and leadership still. Amen cannot handle the PG position.

I believe the option was always to use FVV as a trade option for Durant, but it seems like Suns valued Brooks more. We’ll definitely look to sign FVV now with a team option. Not a bad move

Depends. Rockets could roll with what we have now or make more moves. I think FVV has brought a ton of value to this team and I’d like him to be apart of our future!

The problem with signing him is that gives us NO cap room at all to sign anyone else for YEARS and YEARS.

I don't see why they need to go over 20M per year to get him on a 2 year deal with perhaps a player option on the third year. He's not getting more than MLE on the open market, so this would be a compromise going slightly above MLE since the Rockets are the only team out there that can give him a deal like that.

Just gotta take advantage of the lack of teams out there with cap space.

Sign James Harden instead!! He would be a perfect fit here.

Can't afford him either, that would put us into Luxury tax land.

We're trying to win a title now, letting a good player leave for nothing is the last thing you do.

Whether he's here or not we won't have cap space any time soon.

Oh, let me clarify, I am saying let him test the market and if it is low enough match or slightly beat it.

    I’d pick up the option

Push Amen playmaking with Fred playing off ball shooter with KD & Jabari. Develop Reed & Cam as much as possible. Evaluate Amen & Reeds point guard ability and decide who what’s the better backcourt going forward. Reed / Amen or Amen / Cam

I wouldn’t commit long term to him. That 20-30mill can be used better elsewhere in a year or two for a weapon on the bench. If Ime that in love with him we can give him a much much smaller deal after next year. Like 10mil type of deal

@DaDakota I know your thoughts on FVV, but we all know he is signing a new deal.

Not sure where you got that his contract would push us to the second apron. @aelliott or @BimaThug shed some light?

FVV is not optimal or what I want at PG, but he is here to stay. Gotta accept it.

I think you bring him back on a team friendlier deal. If not, you just lost 60 percent of your starting lineup from a 52 win team that was on the rise. That makes no sense to me.

My guess is the plan is to have him back. How that happens I have no idea.

Well we just added KD's 50m plus contract, and I am assuming we sign him to a 2 year Max extension at 55m+

And after this year Jabari and Tari will be getting new deals - as well potentially as Amen and Cam.

And we just gave Steven Adams a raise......if we sign FVV to 30m it puts us into that 2nd Apron I think, but clearly @BimaThug or @aelliott would know more than I....
