We need RS to fill a role similar to the one 33-year-old McConnell has found for the Pacers. They are similarly built guys. However, the trick is to have only one undersized guard in your rotation. Indiana falls back with 6'5 guys like Shepard and Mathurin (and the 6'7 Haliburton). If Amen and Cam can fill in minutes at the 2-guard, can you get away with FVV and RS at the point?
Amen is going to come back and be a great shooter from the mid-range and a decent shooter from 3. The guy absorbs coaching like a sponge and has more worth ethic than any player since Larry Bird.
Amen will be the 2 guard but we do need a backup who can come off of the bench and get buckets. I would love to get Malik Beasley but I’m not sure if we’ll have to money to get him
That’s what the Rockets brass clearly is banking on. KD is the lead story right now but to me clearly the year is really about Amen’s emergence or disappointment. Huge year for him.
I think we are done until Giannis becomes available. We are ready to roll with FVV, Amen, Durant, Jabari, and Sengun and give Reed a lot of minutes to prove himself. It is not what I would do, but it is a reasonable expectation. We did lose one valuable bench piece in Dillon, so we should at least look to replace that with another knock down 3 pt shooter and decent defensive player. I think John Collins could be had fairly cheap as a rental and we would have a bench of Reed, Tari, Collins, and Adam’s and maybe Cam if he can get his head out of his ass.
All the Suns talk about not having Beal back. If they somehow work out a buyout, we should just bring him in on the minimum.... dude isn't worth 50M, but for 3M!
What is obvious? No way the Rockets are going to sign FVV to a contract that will put them over the 2nd apron. That’s obvious, but it’s not what you said. You said we were over the 2nd apron.
It is obvious we are either going to exercise the team option or extend him for a cheaper longer deal. And yes, I expected that in my computation....that we will be over that apron. DD
It has been obvious that the Rockets would decline option and re-sign him for a while provided some other team did not do something stupid.
There is ZERO market for FVV out there, no one has the cap space for a mid 20s level PG, we should not bid against ourselves - just extend him this year, and let him find a new team next year. DD
