I think his value around the league has been proven, by the latest report that Phoenix are keeping him.

There just aren't many people (outside the small group of clowns on Clutchfans) who look at a guy who actively makes all of his teammates worse when they share the court, and thinks yeah I need to make a move to get that guy.

 

How many games did KD play last year and would he have been healthy for the playoffs? What makes you think he wont play as many games or be as effective as he was last year?

 

The Barkley trade we gave up two good young players. We didn't make that mistake this time.

FVV, Amen, KD, Jabari, Sengun, Adams, Tari, Reed is a very strong top 8. Rounded off by Cam, Landale, Holiday, possibly Tate if he comes back.

I would like to add a decent 3 point shooting SG to come off the bench potentially but the easiest route is a trade, probably a Cam + Landale package. but I think we are fine to just wait and see, maybe see if Cam can be that guy at all.

 

Everybody wants Cam Whitmore, as everyone should want a point per minute guy.

Play him 30 minutes and get 30 points...... unfortunately that comes with undisciplined
play outside the offensive scheme. Rockets need to reel him in to team play on O & D.

Biggest problem is he makes about $3M and the return will usually be trash or $3M back.
Nobody wants to trade their quality $3M for Cam.

 

Another way to do it is overload one side and shoot corner 3s. Tari, Bari, and Amen better be shooting corner 3s all summer!

We're coming off a 2nd-seed finish with a young, homegrown core and added to that a top 3 scorer of all time who was arguably the best shooter in the league last year. Let that sink in fellas.

it's not that we need more youth, but essentially trading for kd, puts us on a timer. What our team really needs is an actual player maker

Jalen needed to go. He was never going to reach his potential here. (Probably never will because of shooting deficiencies) So adding KD even at an older age is a good thing IMHO. He was one of the most efficient scorers in the NBA last year and didn't appear to be a player breaking down with injuries or in decline.

Difference between Alpi/Amen is you could see improvement in their games, in Jalen's game not so much.

 

We tanked for Amen, Jabari and Green. Green is gone but Amen and Jabari are still here, not to mention Sengun, Tari, Cam and Reed who we didnt tank for.

I also would rather have kept Green and think he is due for a breakout but as far as ring chasing goes you are delusional if you think Green will win a chip before the Rockets
