I'm okay with this trade. It's slightly over the price I would have paid but not enough that I'm going to cry about it. We really need to go get a wing now though.

We aren't getting the 1 seed over OKC. Let him rest and let the kids play and improve during the regular season.

There's no way they gave up what they did for a one year rental which means they'll try to extend him (probably for two more years). Would've been good with him for two years. Three years when he'll be THIRTY-NINE years old? Hard pass!!

It'd be two seasons, a one year extension is an extra year of his already one year contract. And I think getting off the Jalen Green contract was actually an asset gained by us, not an asset lost. Only half of #10 picks even become anything. Brooks is the only loss and his contract would have been up the same season

Beyond all that, it's just safety for the team. We can still make a call for another year extension in a years time.

I don't give a **** about seeding, the Rockets had the #2 seed last year and got taken out in the first round by a team that had to earn their spot in the real playoffs in a play in game.

    I want playoff series wins.

I wonder how Harden feels about Durant being the franchise player for the Rockets.....

    • To be honest, I need to watch a season with him..... too much unknown for me right now.
    • I still think Udoka has not solved the young part of the equation....
    • If Cam and Reed developed this past year......I agree.
    • We focused too much on Jalen Green and his deficiencies that we didn't see the Amen problem or the Alpe problem. Or we just chalked it up as shooting problems, there maybe more.
    • Getting the final piece in Durant .....would have helped more......but still would have banked on his health....which is questionable.

Prior to this deal, I was anti-Durant or Giannis because all the trade scenarios gutted the team. Losing only Jalen from the core makes this deal a bargain; and I still had fleeting hope in Jalen.

Grew to love Dillon, but he did his job of helping change team mentality and was always a stop-gap solution.

    Go Rockets!

The mid-level exception should let us a player that fits into the top eight of our rotation honestly.

I was worried Rockets would cave and give up one more significant asset.

I thought the Green deal was bad at the time it was made. The only good thing I saw was that he would be tradeable this offseason (I thoughy he'd either be great and we would want more years while cap increased or we would get what we got). Stone almost made Green's salary fit perfectly for a trade for Durant.

    Very good deal.

    • JG’s 3yr/100M extension is negative value
    • Dillon’s played up for his money, but let’s remember that his contract was considered a huge blunder based on his last year in Memphis. That year did happen. There’s always a chance that it may happen again. Who’s to say that DB of the last two years will be the same going forward?
    • #10 pick is modest value
    • 5 SRP… meh…
Overall, I think we did well, with potential to be a JACKPOT, if KD stays healthy

I was team hold and wait unless a good deal came to fruition and this is a good deal. Again, the opportunity cost here- We are not in much of a worse place come 2027 or whenever KD is done just because we gave up a pick with maybe 50% chance to hit, a role player, and a young guy on a bad contract that has arguably been a bust so far We kept every future pick, we kept every promising young player.

I don't think it's a weird roster at all. We have a lot of promising good young players who are on value contracts for now (we should take advantage of that while we can) and we have two strong vets to lead them

Seems like the front office didn't want to commit to Green after next year due to his inconsistencies. So one year of Green and two years of Brooks and this year's first round traded for one year of Durant. Ime will bring out the best of Durant's sunset years.

Personally, I don't like it. Brooks should have stayed, but we likely needed the cap space. I think Green will develop, but we are more committed to Ime, which we should be, and Ime wants a different type of SG to build the team around. You ask yourself, "What did we tank for?" To get one year of Durant? Teams like OKC and Detroit at least got a core that they can watch for years. Green will get a chip one year, imo, and we will have to watch from afar.

FVV likely gets enough that Rockets won't have full NT-MLE as they will be closer to first apron than the full NT-MLE.
