so now you’re tied up in a 2 year max contract for a player approaching 40.

It’s obvious they’re trying to win now but they have a hole at the 2. I am assuming they slide Amen to the 2. Have we seen a starting 2 in the modern 3 pt era that can’t shoot 3’s? I don’t know how this deal resolves their compressed limited half court issues.

Teams can simply sag on Amen and Sengun and double and trap Durant. Unless they have a plan to implement a shooter at the 2?

KD will play to 40 while still putting up great numbers. I think Curry and Harden will do the same. I don’t think people understand just amazing these 4 have been in terms of still producing insanely high at an advanced basketball age. These guys have so many regular season minutes and games played and then you tack on all of the playoff games and minutes it’s incredible. I’ve never witnessed players doing what they have been doing for such a long period of time.

We might have disagreed on Jalen but I agree with you on Durant......the Pressure will be immensely increased.

Championship or Bust in the next 2-3 years......I doubt I like it.

Rockets desperately needed the half-court/end of game iso scoring.

KD is such a great answer for that.

KD is being paid to play. We want the 1 seed and home court. He's not here to be babied. The higher our seed the more rest he can get in the playoffs.

Underrated part of this trade? We aren’t running back the same backcourt next season. Thank you!

Hearing per Shams write up that Cam may be added to the deal on July 6th. Can anyone confirm that’s not the case?

    Good trade.

Jalen was in his final "show me" year...failed completely in playoffs. He is what he is..

I'm going to miss Brooks. He was great on defense and his shooting was very good these past two years..

    10th pick, dont care

We just didnt have enough good shooters and really not a closer. KD is almost 37 but his shooting has just been solid and one can say improved over last couple years. He isnt as athletic as he used to be, most likely he wants to stay away from contact due to age/injuries.

This trade should give us an edge next year...

Don't worry, Pat Riley has been trying to get KD for a decade now. When KD's 40yo on an expiring we can trade him to the Heat for a late first.

I’m disappointed in this thread’s woefully scant amount of photoshop images of the new roster.

come on, graphic designer folks! Post em up!!!

I think a bunch of Rockets brass (and a bunch of us here) didn't see JG as an up-and-coming star, at all. Just a limited, very overpaid guy who can score in space, which we will never have in the playoffs.

My hesitation relates to what you mention about KD's age, but I think this was well worth a roll of the dice. We arguably have plenty of youth and athleticism on the roster already.

The surprising thing is that we didn't include Jabari

So at the end the Suns finally caved. KD even at his age is still a tier1 closer and will be hyper efficient for at least two more years. You have to give up something to get something, and I'm glad to see the youth intact, except for Jalen.

He will become a valuable piece someday, but it was clear that was not happening here. We all had huge hopes for him, but 4 years with no defined jump isn't going to cut it, especially with Cam and Reed waiting for their chance.

Sad to see Dillon gone, he was our most consistent shooter and, without all the theatre, actually a great teammate and glue guy. I understand that we're too crowded at the wings to keep him, and most of us thought he would last a couple of seasons and then be packaged in a star trade anyway.

I really didn't care for the pick, it was obvious that we weren't using it to draft anyone, so I didn't even look up the prospects.

As for KD, I'm excited to have him here. Character issues aside, he's still an assasin on the court, and can give space to Amen and Alpi to operate. We will be insane to watch. Hopefully Reed and Cam take a step, and Jabari levels up playing alongside his mentor.

I forgave the awful interviews and worsening mumblecore drawl his rookie year. I overlooked the plateau'ed efficiency numbers in favor of squinting at his WS/48 numbers eeking up due to improved defense and team record.

But it was that piss poor decision-making, putting a ring on a 40yo THOT, NBA virgin trap machine. A superstar just cannot be making these life decisions.

20/20 clarity now that he's not on the team anymore. Best of luck with your life, Jalen.

Sadly this should not be about Green as I said Green's trade should come but I think Fred's regular season showed that he should have been traded before Green.

It would have been better to trade Fred instead of Brooks as well.

But alas, let's shake out the roster, time is not on our side on this one.
