Loved the guy. Thought it was a good signing at the time. It became a better signing. I am glad he went to Phoenix instead of one of Jabari or Tari in this trade. Best of luck to him in Phoenix.
This is a tough loss thou, is there someone out there in free agency you think rockets can get now we got KD? This has to be a big free agent destination now?
I'm gonna miss Dillon, we're gonna lose a bit of that swag with Villain gone. A lot of tech money too.
I don't really get why people think Dillon was holding the Rockets back - 40% volume 3 point shooters who guard all 5 spots - there's like 3 or 4 of them in the entire NBA. It's like Lu Dort, Herb Jones, Dillon - that's almost the whole list
He helped change the culture.. Unfortunately those kind of guys get traded as soon as the team gets good.. Never fails
Oddly, I think we'll regret losing him more than losing Jalen. I was actually going to buy his jersey this year if he played well again, hope he has a long a fruitful career, if he comes back to us someday I wouldn't be mad.
He is a COMPLETE zero as a passer, ball handler, creator, or rebounder. He had ONE season shooting 40%, it’s not like he consistently does that. His defense has also slipped a lot, he’s a completely awful help defender and a total zero as a rim protector.
Like many other Rockets fans, I wasn't thrilled when I saw the numbers on the Brooks contract, but he was such an integral piece in us becoming a serious franchise again and he easily played up to that contract in the end. His toughness has clearly rubbed on the young core, and he was the best shooter on a team that desperately needed it last season. Hope he does well in Phoenix or wherever he lands. He's going to annoy the **** out of us every time he plays us, but I'll have an appreciation for his game that I didn't before. If he's looking for a new destination in a few years, I'd be thrilled to bring up back as a bench 3 and D piece.
I appreciate coming to like him more than expected and he was a solid shooter, but not a fan of the fake tough guy act that got him and us more in trouble than actually getting under an opponent’s skin. Also to me he was exposed in the playoffs. Not once did he show he could stand up to Draymond so good riddance.
It fells like every player on our team is either loved or loathed, Dillon being no exception. I get the hate about the contract initially but it now looks pretty good. He makes as much as guys like De'Andre Hunter and KCP? He's better than them. Dillon helped set out culture and never backed down from anyone. He shot pretty well last year and GREAT this year. He could guard the other teams best player every night and did okay with that. I'll always remember him pushing Wemby out towards the 3 point line. I'm glad we had him, he was great for our team.
He had one season at 3 at 36% and one at 39% on his best ever volume - you're mad because he had a bad shooting season - for Memphis? First off, your assessment of his help defense is just... wrong. He & Fred captained & organized the defense for 2 years. It's not blocks or steals but please watch any game from the TNT OT behind the basket overtime cam - there is a reason why he & FVV play so much, because they are constantly adjusting their positioning on defense and everyone else's, they talk so much. A lot of this is because Sengun needs so much help and Tari frequently has no idea where to go But you also notice the little things - A quick slide to cut off a passing angle and then slip back. Amen & Tari make the steals but the things you don't see are why Brooks made his mark (also the fact that a 6-6 guard is the first choice man on Jokic & Wemby should tell you something about his importance to the scheme. Anyway, yeah you know what? If he could pass and finish above the rim instead of being a mid salaried 3&D floor spacer he'd be a max salary all NBA player.
