The franchise would be in an abundantly better position if they allowed that. It was such a stupid decision then, it's an even worse decision now, having let him expose himself to the entire NBA landscape in the playoffs. (as predicted)
I know someone brought it up before, but I wouldn’t mind trading Jalen for Jordan Poole. One bad player for a lesser bad player that’s more efficient. I think that’s the only way we get out of Jalen’s contract.
Can someone help me to understand it a little bit more. I get the concept that the max offer he probably would be receiving from anybody who would be the full MLE. what would we be paying him next year if we hadn’t redone the contract?
Jalen has a make or break year. I’m ready to ride with him and trade him come all star break. I’m not giving a 23 year old for a 37 year old. Let’s run it back!!!!
We don't know, because they extended him rather than seeing what his value was in RFA. If we hadn't when FA starts he'd be looking to find the best offers from other teams to sign to an offer sheet, we would then have the option of either matching him, or letting him go to the other team for nothing. Likely he wouldn't have got what we extended him by, but it's all conjecture, and his agent might be one of those who manages to drum up interest from a team on hype alone, we'll never know.
We have too big of a sample size of minimal improvement. It's impossible to even sell teams on potential at this point. Reed Sheppard have way more trade value simply because he still has the mystery box appeal. Every GM knows exactly how Green plays, because it basically is the same since 2021
Shaddap, Khan! anyway, it’s funny that the Suns are somehow trying to get a top option scorer when they’re trading a 2007 Toyota Tundra; still solid but we all know it’s going to be in the shop on and off if you buy it. If Green were as great as the Suns see that he isn’t, we wouldn’t be trading him. That said, he’s still a 23yo NBA starter caliber player who has his best years in front of him.
I mean, yeah why not. He could be pretty effective in that role, and it takes some pressure off. They benched Jabari, why not Jalen too.
we are not paying Jabari 35 mil/yr to come off the bench Stone is an absolute fool if he gave that type of money with a PO to a bench scorer
Who on this roster is a serious starting 2 guard on a good team? Cam Whitmore who’s not even in the rotation? Reed Sheppard who sucked?
Sorry, your question makes no sense with the context of your previous post (asking what we'd be paying him if we hadn't extended - nothing yet, because it's not been decided.) Next year is year 1 of the contract, the 5th year option is a long way away.
