No issues with anyoone who is out on Jalen. That said, he was willing to take his benchings last season like a man, and come back and give effort on both sides of the ball. Cam is a more talented scorer but has black hole vibes. Right now Jalen has a clearer path to being a starting SG in this league (if not for us), so I'll give it to him; for now...
Cam gets more rebounds, blocks and steals (both per 36 minutes and per 100 possessions) than Jalen. And while Cam does have fewer assists than Jalen, it also leads to fewer turnovers for Cam. For all the “black hole” talk, Cam (the more efficient scorer) takes fewer shots (per 36 minutes and per 100 possessions) than Jalen.
Everyone had worse years this year for some reason save for Amen. Jabari, Cam, Fred and Sengun all shot worse. But Cam is simply a better shooter than Jalen. Cam can be ramped up slowly like they did with Shai (not saying he's going to ever be Shai). If the poll was "who would you rather keep" I think Cam would overwhelmingly win that.
Cam is better, it usually takes a while for folks to recognize it, but you will all see it soon enough. DD
Right now? If I wanted to win a pickup game, I’d pick Cam. If I was trying to win an NBA game, I’d pick Jalen. Cam has the tools to be better, it’s just whether or not he can put it all together and get on the court.
If Cam had been the 2nd overall pick in 21 he would have put up equal or better numbers than what Jalen did on the tank squads. Maybe his game would have even continued to develop, something Jalen hasn't done. Jalen is currently a better player, not all that much better, but better. Being older and having logged 10K high usage minutes already he should be far better than Cam, but he isn't. Cam is better at pretty much everything, and has a better NBA body, unfortunately his tunnel vision remains a crippling issue.
I think Cam is more efficient offensively than Jalen right now because he is a stronger player physically. Once Jalen gets strong he can be a star but he has to put the work in.
I will abstain from picking one lest I be deemed an only-fan! However..... it's somewhat concerning to me that (up-to this point) the Suns are not interested at all on a Jalen Green centered trade package for Grandpa Durant and that the Rockets have been receiving multiple calls from the league for the status (availability) of Cam Whitmore! Are we overvaluing Green and undervaluing Whitmore? Go Rockets!!! ....... ....... .......
Cam's horrible right now. There's a lot of work to do. It's just that the work is obvious so he has a potential but right now he's a losing player.
I would rather talk about it when both are at the height of their games than fresh off a Playoff semi failure and when Cam saw no minutes but that is just me. Green is further in his development but that was no surprise.
