the success is pretty much due to Ime. It bothers me that there’s no accountability for busting on our highest draft picks. It bothers me we gave our biggest bust a near max contract extension. We were #2 last yr, but take Ime out of the equation and we’re probably not great.

"A shot"...lol we got a shot right now obv not a very good shot but its a shot nonetheless.

Having to pray for KD to be healthy for a full season as he gets older and older just doesnt do it for me after 2 yrs he will either be washed or a massive anchor around the Rockets neck. And then we lost all those assets for nothing.

These of trades always backfire look at the Gobert trade, the Vucevic trade the KG/Paul Pierce trade etc teams always trade for a star thats washed or about to be washed and always end up paying for it.

For those looking for an update:
    • Miami at the 2 yard line
    • Rockets will not increase their offer
      • Suns want their picks back, not happening.
    • Spurs will not increase their offer and may already be looking at other options
    • Durant doesn't want to go to Minni or Toronto
      • Those teams are still doing their due diligence but not presenting strong offers due to lack of commitment.
    • Hoping to do deal before draft
    • Jalen Green's value is in the dumps.
      • If you ask me, he still has the potential tag and performed decently last year, this just seems like a bunch of propaganda aimed at Rockets increasing their offer which is why Gambo has been repeating the same **** for the last week.
Feel free to waste the rest of the day like I will hitting refresh like the fool I am. Thanks for the efforts of @J.R. @zeeshan2 etc sparing me from wasting my time watching ESPN and having to join X. You guys rock.

No worries, you'll still be hitting refresh because as die hard fans we just can't help ourselves even though we know damn well that there is always a ton of drama with these breaks up that are made public.

It doesn't read at all like "healthy scepticism" as much as it reads as "complete nonsense made up just because it's the opposite of what's being reported." Those are VERY different things.

Nah sorry, your pseudo-psychology bullshit's not going to work on me. I just find the whole fantasy nonsense of making stuff up just because nobody can "disprove" you a bit childish. Have fun though.

    Fair enough.

Roster-wise, replacing only Eason with Durant while maintaining basically all the core members of the roster would be the big attraction for me.

But hitching your championship hopes on a 37-year-old is definitely risky.

The fact that teams like Toronto are labeling players of Poeltl’s caliber off-limits tells you everything you need to know about the market for Durant.

Stone acquired those Suns picks for Booker. I am going to continue believing that he has made his final offer on Durant and the Suns will have to decide between that and any other offers. That Minnesota deal (if accurate) appears to be the best for the Suns. They should snatch that up before the Wolves come to their senses. Durant didn’t bring them a title and saddled them with Beal. They need not worry about his preferred destinations.

Don't let Phoenix Suns fans fool you into thinking the 10th pick is a bad pick. A lot of quality players and future Hall of Famers have been picked between 10 and 15 for the past 10 years. When the Suns went to the NBA Finals against the Milwaukee Bucks, that series featured Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. All of those players were picked in the 10 through 15 range.

Did they look in the mirror too? Surely they realize that the Silas years significantly hurt the development and mentality of several players, right? Tanking is OK in principle, but with a young team it has to be done deliberately and carefully with an eye towards a future team and not just draft picks. The culture was never set. I'm of the view that the Silas years were a disaster that we are still recovering from and that's on the front office, not the players. It doesn't seem like some guys truly understood what it takes to be an NBA player until well into Ime's first year--and I think they are still learning.

The odds of the 10th player in this particular draft being anything special is pretty far odds and it would be 1 year plus 2 year extension for KD. Rarely are trades made for players under contract longer than three years. Plus we’re talking about a top ten player even if he’s on the downside.

However I’d also be fine taking whoever the Rockets and Ime think is the best player available in this draft. Cedric Coward is my pick and dude seems to fit right in with our culture

If memory serves, the only pick they truly “missed” was picking JG over Evan Mobley. Even then, Mobley is not what most people would consider a franchise player. Cade Cunningham is the guy from that draft.

Arguably, the Rockets made up for that miss by hitting on sengun and Eason with later picks, although neither of them seem to be true franchise players or superstars.

Jabari was what fell to us. Oh well. Jury is out whether Banchero or Holmgren can become franchise players. I’d bet that Chet has the best chance.

Amen seems to be the right choice and only Wemby looks better from that class. That’s just dumb luck.

Reed Sheppard might not have been the best pick, too early to know. But there does not appear to be a franchise player in that draft. The 2024 draft was one of the worst in recent memory.

Basically, the Rockets did fine drafting. They just had crap luck that with that many high picks, there were no draft classes chock full of elite prospects, or we didn’t win the top pick in the lottery.

In reality, we might have gotten damn lucky with Amen falling into our laps. But it still feels crappy we are still looking and hoping.

I agree with you that Jalen played much better last year, but I think his value is “in the dumps” because of the near-max contract extension. That and the disappearing act in the playoffs. Agreed about the propaganda but it’s probably more like Jalen has neutral value on that contract, and they probably can’t get meaningful assets for him.

What offer would have Jalen received in restricted free agency? Would anyone even have bothered to sign him? I can't believe Stone bailed him out like that.

it was a huge unforced error, and everyone seemed to think it was a tradable contract. I remember having my doubts. For me it was simply that he hadn’t come anywhere close to earning that contract. Even with last year’s improvement he’s still not worth that contract.

There's zero chance the Minnesota offer is accurate. Think about the fact that the same Xitter aggregators (Fullcourtpress or whatever, that Sidery idiot, etc) were saying the Toronto offer was Poetl, Barrett, Quickly, AND the #9 pick. Rockets offer was Jalen, Jabari, AND the #10 pick. Minny was Gobert, DD, AND FRPs. And now they're saying Poetl is not even in Toronto's offer?? Nobody knows ****, and everybody is lying. The Rockets are doing what every other team is doing, and holding firm on their offer. Phoenix is just rattling cages right now to see who flinches.

Hear me on that one, I think it was weird that Phoenix extra leaked that they did background research on Jalen.

Seemed they are extra suspicious on Rockets assets.....

We have to find out it's just the Suns or other teams as well figure out if our assets are shot and compromised due to some weird reason, boycotted even.

I think the offer is DB and etc etc. …

Phx wants Bari, so they keep putting out they don’t want JG (who is currently working with 2 Rockets assistant coaches) Rockets came out early in the Giannis trade rumors and said JG wasn’t on the table … now we supposed to believe he’s on table for a older rental (KD) who actually works out with him the last 2 off-seasons

I don’t want Bari gone, but I’m okay with letting Tari walk… between his fast break decisions and chronic fouling 3pt shooters in the worse possible moment + his health …. Love him but he can go to clear the logjam at SF

    FVV- Amen- Reed
    JG- (Beasley??)(Grimes)??
    KD-Amen-draft pick
    Bari-Alpi-Green
    Alpi-Adams-Jock

me personally I would let FVV walk, let Amen start at PG and sign CP3 as a mentor for Reed and Amen

Got to have KD and Bari on court with Amen and JG as much as possible … paint will be so open for Alpi to eat

I think Stone extended Jalen because of Alpi's extension. Even though Alpi was clearly the better player, maybe he thought it would have been awkward to extend the #16 pick but not the #2 pick.

    What a blunder!
