I think the thing that sold me was his game impact. 6'8" 230+ already. Efficient scorer although the shot is ugly, incredible defender and willing passer. Dude reminds me of Tari kinda. Except Tari can kinda shoot threes but sucks at the rim - CMB sucks at threes and is an auto bucket around the cup. He's a brickhouse too, you just watch other players bounce off of him but he doesn't really move. Per 36 is wild - a hair under 20/10 with a couple/three assist AND a couple/three stocks. Analytics darling for sure. If Amen is going to excel, if one of Tari/Jabari is likely gone after this season - Collin Murray-Boyles is the reload we need.

If he drops to us doesn’t mean we have to take him, but I don’t see him falling past 8. The Nets need a young player to build around so they will probably jump all over him.

I think he’s one of the safest picks in the draft. You are getting excellent switchable defense, passing, rebounding and elite processing, excellent footwork and inside game. You are not getting shooting but he’s working hard on it. He’s one of the 3 players I’d be okay taking at 10 that are likely available. Even though we need a shooter, he might end up being BPA when we pick. He’s a better prospect than Tari was coming out.

    I’d dig
    CMB
    Essengue
    Coward
    Kon

Most of all. there’s a couple other guys that I wouldn’t necessarily be disappointed about including Jakucionis and Bailey if he were to randomly drop.

It would be hilarious if we ended up drafting him. He wants guaranteed starter minutes? Okay, head down to the G-league.

Have the Rockets been working out any prospects in case of trade failure?

Kasparas Jakucionis, Cedric Coward, or Carter Bryant are the three guys who could be available at #10 and I'd be happy to see Houston pick. Probably in that order.

Collin Murray-Boyles is another name that seems to come up for the #10, but I'm a bit wary of his size and his reported lack of outside shot.

Another really intriguing name is Danny Wolf, but it sounds like he's expected to go much later in the draft.
But I'm getting some Sengun vibes from him, though with less of a post game and with better shooting.

Those 3. But if Coward killed it in workouts, he should be in the mix too.

I would be doing what I have to do to move up and draft Kon. I think he’s a can’t miss prospect.

Call me an idiot, but i believe nique cliff will be an integral part of any team in the starting 5 in 3 years. Not all star material but a perfect complementary player. I would rather draft him and grow sheppard and cam this year. The following year we can try our chance for the finals

The one I dont understand for the life of me is Carter Bryant. I get everyone else almost. But I'm not sure what hes supposed to be.

Edit: yeah this guy looks like he has zero offensive impact outside of catch and shoot 3s.

Thanks for sharing @comrade! I've been in favor of keeping #10 because you can find talent in that area and there are some decent prospects that should be available, maybe even a few exciting players. I also just love the draft and would hate if our only pick is last of 2nd round.

He has the floor of Chuck Hayes and the ceiling of PJ Tucker. The question is if the Rockets are so good they just need depth from this pick and not a potential difference maker

The league is drifting toward 5 out .. or 4 out. Teams will need a 2/3 players who can dribble penetrate and 4/5 who can shoot the 3.

Carter Bryant appears to have above an average 3 point shoot ... enough of a dribble for a one-dribble-and-shoot shot and perhaps a step back. He does not have create-your-own-shot skills. As a 3, the team would need the 1 and 2 to be the play makers.

Bryant's current 3 and D skills make him a NBA rotation player on a good team, albeit as a backup wing. If this is all that he is and will become, he is not an all-star but potentially a first/second all NBA defense team player. This is worthy of the 10th pick.

If the Rockets want an all-star with what may be their last lottery pick for a few years, Carter Bryant aint it.

There are several things that stood out to me in Bryant's film. He has good functional length which he uses to get his hand in passing lanes and to change if not block shots. He also has a good vertical and solid judgement on how to use his vertical to block shots, which IMHO will translate into the NBA.

The tape also show Bryant making full court passes on the fast break, which are accurate. This makes Bryant a weapon in the fast break.

I mean, he’s better at everything than Chuck Hayes (and I really liked Chuck Hayes) so not sure how that could be the floor. I’ll give u that the ceiling may be capped by the shooting, but if he does manage to develop that skill-set he’ll be a much better player than PJ (and I loved PJ).

my two big question on Bryant:

1). Can he dribble? We just don’t have enough tape to know. It’s something that can be developed but I’m skeptical of taller, stiff guys being able to do that. It’s easier if they played guard in high school but Bryant had always been a forward. So the handles are a big question. And handles really cap upside. He’s probably not gonna be a creator.

2). Is the shooting real? Good efficiency, but the volume is low and I dont think you can put a lot of stock into efficiency on low volume with low minutes over one college season.

if the shooting is real, Bryant is worth taking at #10 in this draft, regardless of the handles, but if the shooting isn’t real, he’s not worth taking where we are picking. I leave it up to our scouts to know. Hopefully they worked him out and were able to get more data.
