But why would we then trade the #3 pick for Durant and then acquire George who was useless last season and has the worst contract in the NBA?

Just think about $100m+ per year on two end of career guys. The organization 1000000% won't won't want that. No organization would.

Decline Fred's Option (to resign at 3/95 with a TO in year 2 and 3) first.

Jalen, Jabari, Cam, pick 10, 2027 phoenix pick, 2027 swap, 2029 phoenix/dallas swap, 2031 FRP (top 6 protected) for Devin Booker

    (3 Picks, 2 swaps)

    Fred/Reed
    Booker
    Brooks/Tari
    Amen
    Sengun/Adams

would have to fill in the roster but that's a nice base.

Option #2, the big swing for stars
Decline Fred's Option (to resign at 3/95 with a TO in year 2 and 3) first. (gives wiggle room)

To Houston: Giannis, KD and Pat Connaughton
To Phoenix: Dillon, Jabari, Jock, Holiday, Pick #10
    To Milwaukee: Jalen, Sengun, 2027 phoenix pick, 2027 swap, 2028 (unprotected) 2029 phoenix/dallas swap, 2030 FRP, 2031 swap) 3 FRP 3 swaps

    Fred/Reed
    Amen /Cam
    KD / Tari
    Giannis
    Adams

the only issue with that trade is it degrades all the rest of our Phoenix picks. its in our best interest to keep the return for Durant thin enough to keep the Suns from being a playoff team. Booker, Beal,Derozan, Murray, valanciuans could be kinda of spicy and they could add either the #10 pick or trade it for another contributor.
if we were to use the other Phoenix picks to make another good move first. i would do it.

I want to trade filler for Toumani Camara and whatever draft capital it takes for Portland. I think I'd empty the war chest or nearly... same for Dyson Daniels or Ausar. I know everyone says we need scoring, but I want to see more Amen at the 2, Jalen off the bench, Assume you will get growth from Cam and Reed. Keep doing what we're doing, bring in another great defender and believe our guys will get better.

the problem is you don’t want $36 mil of your cap tied up in a guy coming off the bench. In order for us to keep the guys we’ve developed, we have to manage our cap well. That means moving off Jalen’s near-max contract…so we can extend Bari & Tari, and max out Amen. Cam is also extension eligible next offseason. Unfortunately we gave Jalen a contract he didn’t deserve. It’s up to our front office to keep that from hurting our chances to keep the rest of our guys together.

    https://clutchpoints.com/nba/nba-st...t-trade-saga-impacts-draft-free-agency-rumors

The back end of the top 10 sees the Raptors with the ninth pick and the Rockets with the 10th pick. These are two teams involved in the Durant trade sweepstakes, and both organizations have been involved in trade talks outside of the star forward, sources said.

Toronto is said to be prioritizing defensive versatility and size in this draft, whereas Houston is in a win-now mode. It is more likely that the Rockets trade their pick than the Raptors to acquire a player that brings value to their playoff ambitions.

The Rockets are said to have interest in Wizards wing Corey Kispert, sources said. This has led to some speculation about whether Washington would leverage Kispert in a deal that could move them up from the 18th pick to the 10th pick.

Let's make this clear before the aggregators go crazy: there is no confirmation that the Wizards are actively trying to move from the 18th pick to specifically land the 10th pick with Houston, ultimately trading Kispert in the process. Teams are constantly talking, and this was an idea that had bounced around like a game of telephone from one organization to another.

With this said, it does seem like Washington is actively looking to move up in the late lottery region with the No. 18 pick.

Yes, Washington has a lot of good young players I would want but not Kispert, and definitely not for the 10th pick.

Why would the Rockets make this trade?

#10, Cam Whitmore, Phoenix pick swap

    For

    #3

    Take VJ Edgecombe

They don't need Edgecombe with Maxey and McCain. They get a possible cheap starter in Cam at the sf if George is hurt and hold onto that pick swap for later.

Works if Rockets view Edgecombe as elite 2 way player with shooting.

I'd rather facilitate a KD trade to the Spurs. Make it a four-team trade where we end up with Maxey.

Yeah - let's get Maxey and Haliburton and Shai.

If Stone can't facilitate a KD deal to the Spurs and end up with those 3, he's a moron.

I think 2 picks for #3 is reasonable. Not sure on the Cam inclusion. All of it depends on the how Rockets/Phili feel about #3 and Cam. I think Edgecomb is going to be the real deal.
