He is improving in different ways every season. This season, it was his defence, free throws and three-point shot. 35 per cent from three is passable. Still only 23 years of age. Ime's offensive system isn't great for a guy like him.
I like Jalen he's a decent player but hes clearly a role player. I remember when kevin porter jr and the vipers played against Jalen green and the G league Ignite. Jalens team lost, and were consistently bad…ever since then I've noticed that Jalen Green might not be a winning player. That said its hard to give up on the hope we once had when we drafted him after Harden left us.
Well, he actually progressed to become not a losing player so there is progress. Rightfully so, people view him as a useful player now. In the regular season only. Herculean effort by Udoka.
You know nothing about basketball. Athletes like MJ, Kobe. Jalen Green were mostly about dunk contests and practiced that at a high level and sacrificed on practice time shooting. Not that they couldn't shoot; but often needed to see the ball go through the rim on the form of a dunk or layup. Go to the free throw line a few times. See the ball through the rim and then their confidence grows and their outside shot picks up. I watched M J and Kobe come into this league. You don't know how often I saw MJ putting up some crappy numbers by halftime. Games of 0-7 or 1 -10 and no dunks / layups/ free throws and then go 9-10 or 11-13 in the second half because he came out and dunked or got a couple of layups. Guess you didn't see M J shooting 27 or 28 FGA's a game his 2nd or 3rd season? MJ was a ball hog that got the refs phantom calls, and couldn't shoot worth s**t from 3 his first 9 seasons. Jalen is asked to shoot 50% from 3 just like Booker and Ant-man and most players to open things up for their teammates. Imagine M J having to shoot half his shots from 3 like today's guards. M J and his crappy 3P%......pure garbage. Jalen Green was: 24/25: 45.5%.....right corner 3P% 35.1%.....above the break 3P% 26.7%.....left corner 3P% If Green didn't shoot from left corner 3, he would've been around 40.3% from 3..... and his FG% would have been much higher since he takes half his shots from 3. I say forget about efficiency because he takes half his shots from 3 & 40% is good. 40% FG% is not though. People want him to be at 49% FG%.....he would have to shoot over 50% from 3. Or the other half of his shots be nothing but dunks or layups. And I already covered it, because of fat @$$ Sengun, his defender is always sitting in the paint to cut Jalen off at the pass, prevent the dunk or layup. I know you love Sengun, probably from Turkey...still think post ups are the thing. Like when Japan loved our 50's music somewhere in the 80's or 90's. A little bit late and the sport has moved on from that. Put in rules to discourage post ups and favor 3-point shooting. Maybe you should tell Sengun to practice 3's so his fat @$$ won't be clogging up the paint all the time and his teammates can eat. You Jaters have to get Green off this team. Because Jalen was drafted sooner. SOF's have to remove him completely from the team. Can't accept it's Jalen's team until then.
Even if not for KD I want Green moved. There are probably a dozen less heralded but equal or more effective scorers reasonably available.
To be fair to Stone, Jalen's contract & KPJ's contract are not at all comparable. KPJ's contract had team options and outs for literally any bad behavior. That was actually a good contract where the team had total control. Either the team would benefit, or the contract was void. Stone just chose to get him off the roster sooner than later and traded him instead of letting the contract get voided or expire. Jalen's contract is a terrible one. Stone should have waited & let him hit RFA .... then match or not.
I think Jalen needs a new team to unlock his potential and we need to give those touches and shots to other players.
Was the play to give him the Player Option and show him that they got his bird rights and can offer him more money than others....
How about simply not taking the shots he will miss? Then he will have a 100% fg%. Or don’t play in the games he will play bad . This take is so bad that I can find 100 ways to make fun of it.
Your math is way off here. If Jalen didn't shoot any of those left corner 3s his percentage goes from 35.4% to 35.8%. His field goal percentage goes from 42.3% to 42.6%. If he just didn't shoot from that left corner it barely would've changed his percentages at all.
not only his math is off but also ignores sample size to falsely conclude that Green is bad from left corner 3s. Green had a total of 30 left corner 3s all season. the previous year, he shot 41.4% from left corner on 29 shots. Each shot contributes about 3.1% to the final stat so the variation is quite high. That’s why you see these numbers changing from year to year. Luckily he didn’t stop shooting from the right corner 3 since last year he was worse from the right corner 3 following his garbage reasoning. I am not even talking about the absurdity of suggesting that your sg should avoid shooting from a particular area. with tons of different shot types with small to medium sample sizes, it is inevitable that some of them will be good and some will be worse. You can’t conclude that he is bad from left corner 3s based on his percentage this year. Similarly in his catch and shoot 3s. He shot above 40 last year but the reasonable expectation going forward is about 34-38% slightly above his past 3 year average. If he can do it one more year than it is a much more solid evidence towards improvement.
Whilst I agree with you, worth noting that there's a HUGE contingent of people in Rockets fandom who believe that's exactly what you should do, to all players. It was the entire philosophical principle for our team the last time we were somewhat successful, and our former GM built his entire name on it tbh (and messed up the game for a long time from an entertainment perspective.)
In case of Harden, he has so many threats that he has the luxury of giving up the midrange. He is great at drawing fouls, finishing at the rim and also before getting to the rim, 3 pt and playmaking. If jalen lets opponents know that he will not shoot, he will be even worse at the other stuff. I very much enjoy watching harden or Luka as a basketball fan, but also think that heliocentric systems are inferior due to not involving other players in a natural and consistent way. And typically your main offense guy is weak on defense.
It wasn't just Harden and heliocentric play - that's actually just how Morey got a good reputation, Harden legitimised his beliefs. The entire team was only allowed to shoot exactly where Morey said they could, we took almost no midrange shots at all for a very long time. It made us so one dimensional that we were actually very beatable, we just happened to also have one of the greatest offensive players to ever touch a basketball put us on his shoulders and carry us into being contenders despite how easy our entire strategy was to shut down. That's why we actually failed, Golden State will flat out tell you they only had to wear out and beat James, nobody else was going to win anything for us.
One thing I know for sure, he definitely won't be the right guy next to Amen. So, who is here to stay longer is very obvious. Why not do Jalen fans a favor and let him shine somewhere else?
