Durant makes sense if cheap. Otherwise, no. Not risking real assets for a player that can easily be washed overnight, much like what happened to Dream. I think he will hold up 2 to 3 years, but I wouldn't bet on it.
What has Durant got to do with the Pacers....what logic is behind that one? Trade and draft news run parallel to the Finals. Deal with it. Durant makes a little sense but I would not prefer him.
Just step back and think about it. Forget the age and the name. Let's say he gives you roughly 60 games per season like FVV has basically his entire career. Let's also say he declines in scoring and he doesn't last a 3rd year. Two years of 24+ ppg at 60 games per season with passable defense. What is that worth? Has that ever in NBA history been acquired cheaply? People are in a hypnosis about this age thing. Durant played 62 and 75 games the past 2 seasons. Sengun played 63 and 76 games the past 2 seasons. Amen Thompson played 69 games last season. FVV has played more than 70 games only once in the past 6 years. Durant is sure to decline but you and I both know he's going to give you about 25ppg on excellent efficiency. We also both know that when your team declines, even if you didn't decline, your advanced numbers will drop. So a significant portion of the drop in his advanced numbers is team-related and I acknowledge his individual age is a significant factor too. If Durant joins the Rockets, all his advanced numbers will be better than last season. Then it will decline the following season slightly. Not worried about such stuff. Just don't want to give up young players. FVV misses lots of games historically, is 31 and was by far the worst scorer in the starting lineup. If you can ship him out plus #10 and Whitmore, you do it with your eyes closed. With Durant demanding the ball as primary scorer - Amen, Holiday and Sengun are more than capable of running the offense the rest of the time.
WTF GETTING KEVIN DURANT IS THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT THE PACERS OR OKC DID LOL They calmly rebuilt their teams and were patient wtf are you talking about?
cers don't want sab0nis s0 they went f0r hali--siakam via team exchange gifts then kings n0w, don't want sab0nis t00
That's the hope, right? I know I am hoping for it. Age can't be ignored though, when the drop happens it's sudden and steep, once again like Dream. But if we trade for Durant, I certainly hope it pans out. I 100% agree on not overpaying and what he can bring if not suddenly washed.
That Gen Z oversized glasses style makes girls look geek chic, but makes guys look like 70's-90's cult leaders
Using a team whose 2 best players are traded from other teams, one they traded multiple future picks for and the other they traded an all-star for, as an example of patience and rebuilding is certainly a level of mental gymnastics that only sports fans can perform.
The Pacers's roster is made up of young players and two solid, but not superstar-level, All-Star players in Haliburton and Siakam. They haven’t traded away their draft picks or young talent for an aging superstar. I’m sorry, but I don’t see how the Durant situation is relevant to a comparison with the Pacers—it actually demonstrates the opposite point.
Who compared Jalen to karl malone? Jabari clearly better at same age. Doesn't mean he's going to have same career. Malone, like Jabari, made living as a jump shooter and not as much as a post up player.
Ignoring that those guys were in their early 20s when traded compared to a 37 year old KD is the bigger mental gymnastic lol. To be more like the pacers and OKC the rockets would be better off not trading that much for Durant. Certainly wouldn’t be sending Jabari or multiple pick their way (like the 27 and 29 picks). Try to keep the young core if possible
