If nothing changes at all and we just resign fred and add #10? I expect minor improvements accross the board. Slightly better defense, slightly better offense, slightly better reads Still underwhelming from someone with star talent but a solid player overall Something like 22ppg on 44/36/82 If we get Durant while keeping Jalen? Improved efficiency on lower output with better reads and better defense More positive outlook from fans as the #2 or #3 guy where he looks more comfortable Something like 20ppg on 46/37/82 If he gets traded to a lottery team like Utah or Brooklyn? I expect higher output at similar %s with a step back in defense. Less of a winning player but would appear to make a small leap offensively Something like 25/ppg on 42/34/82 *Again... If you are going to try and debate the same Jalen debates we have all had 1,000 times, save your energy and dont respond to me, because I wont respond to you.
What would we have to attach to Jalen in a trade to make other teams interested? What was the most that Lou Williams ever went for in a trade? /partialsarcasm
such an unforced error to sign him to a near max extension…prematurely. We didn’t have to do that. Stone just can’t move off his guys. It’s not enough that we busted on our highest pick since Yao. We had to compound the mistake by giving him a contract he didn’t deserve and is now a net negative. It’s just really stupid. Stone keeps doing this. He did it with KPJ too.
not sure I follow u. Jalen will be starting his 3 yr extension this coming season. 2yrs with a player option for a 3rd yr. Certainly the contract becomes more tradeable with only 2 yrs left after next season, but it’s a 3-yr deal. Unless Jalen outperforms the contract he’s probably not opting out of that 3rd year at $36 mil
I'm done with the Jalen experiment. Solution? Draft Jakucionis or Coward. Trade Jalen to whoever will give you the best asset.
The contract he got for the player he is gives me hope I can hit the lotto one day. Or maybe marry Sydney Sweeney. So there ya go.
Same old story, put decent 3-point shooters surrounding him and you have a good player. You know, like what we did for Olajuwon, they did for M J, they did for Kobe they did for the Big 3 (LeBron. D-Wade, Bosh) .... lose to Dallas (zone-D), next year added shooters-& win it all. ...like the Cavs, Thunder, Pacers, and other teams going deep in the playoffs nowadays. Jalen is working on. midrange
OK, so none of those guys were good players until they were surrounded by 3-point shooters? Riiiight. Folks, you know the Jalen train has completely gone off the tracks when he's compared to MJ, Kobe and LeBron.
The common denominator is 3-point shooting. MJ had BJ Armstrong, Kerr, Harper, Paxson.......doesn't get to the rim consistently without them. Kobe had Brian Shaw, Derick Fisher. Lamar Odom, Gasol. Eddie Jones.... Dido Olajuwon had to trust his teammates.....Mad. Max, Kenny Smith, Cassell, Horry, Ellie [ Halftime of game: Olajuwon: Kenny pass me the ball ! Kenny Smith: HaKeem, you have 4 players draped all over you. Olajuwon: I know, I'll dunk on all of them ! ] Olajuwon was good; but achieved enlightenment and advanced to a higher level. *Olajuwon was demanding a trade....Rockets did an exhibition in China I believe.....sat next to Leslie Alexander on trip home.....told Olajuwon he needed to trust his teammates. The rest is history. No trade for Olajuwon, Rockets won their 1st championship. Moral of the story.....3-point shooting got 4 defenders the F*** off of Olajuwon. It's about offensive efficiency in today's NBA that stresses 3's. But not just 3's. Harden had good 3-point shooters; but needed some of his teammates to dribble drive.....just like Jalen Green needed last season.
I'm sorry, but Jalen's shooting problems are because he can't shoot, not because his teammates can't shoot. There is no common denominator that includes Jalen. Kobe, Hakeem and Harden were GREAT players when they didn't have good teammates. You comparing Jalen to them is so delusional it's sad. He would have been an 8th/9th/10th man on those teams at best, not the leading scorer.
This has been discussed before. It’s not just him. The rockets as a team is easy to game plan against. If only Amen could shoot 3’s this team would be very difficult to guard with those 2 dynamic guards playing off one another. Look at OKC and IND. both teams have guards or forwards that can dribble drive and shoot. They also don’t play a slow half court game with a center who can only shoot 10 ft. Structurally we aren’t there.
Jalen Green is whatever. I wouldn’t trade him at all costs but I would be looking to upgrade the position and the player at that role.
This is where I'm at right now. I'd draft Coward and let him and Whitmore fight it out for minutes at the 2.
