The further along we go the more I really hope somebody beats our offer. I think we'll regret it if we do trade for Durant, unless the cost is Jalen and bits with none of the other main young prospects I just don't think the risk/reward is worth it.
This is silly. Which one they pay depends on the price point, and we don't know that. But Bari's is likely to be a good bit higher. He's going to want to be paid like a starting wing/big - and he should! But he doesn't and will not have that role on this team. Also I think you'd be pretty hard pressed to find real talent evaluators talking about Jabari's high upside at this point. He's a high floor player, you have it backwards.
I wish guys would quit putting out trade ideas that don’t take into account cap rules. At least make a little effort to be realistic.
Jabari is mediocre…I just don’t want to trade him because I’m greedy and would want the team to be as good as possible after a KD trade, and I think his skillset could be useful if KD was 3 or 4 years younger it would be different hell, who knows, maybe KD could teach Jabari a thing or 2 Idk what happened to Jabari’s jumper, but it just doesn’t look like what it did back in Auburn…all that college footage looking like CGI…a deepfake
I think they are having a hard time coping with the fact that they gave up a **** load to get KD and they won't be able to recoup most of those assets. They have their mouthpiece Gambo attempting to create a story that isn't there. Bottomline, they have no leverage, KD has his list of desired destinations, they just need to determine whether they want to piss of KD and agent (thus impacting their future standing with other marquee free agents) or if they want to ahead and make KD happy and take whatever lessor packages makes the most sense for them. To me all, Gambo being out there is all just smoke screens. KD and his agent have clearly communicated their preferences.
If KD were 3/4 years younger we would be given them Green, Amen, Jabari, their picks back plus an extra unprotected pick from our end.
I genuinely just can't get past the age thing. Opening a short window is great, but not if it sacrifices the future potential to compete also with OKC, Spurs and who knows what the Mavs and Lakers may look like in 2-3 years, one with an emerging Flagg and the other with the league rigging them becoming a super power almost certain. Fair enough if we can actually swing them on Brooks, Jalen and the picks or whatever but I'd even be hesitant to give them both Jalen and Cam - one of these guys at the minimum projects to be a microwave bench scorer which all good teams can use. We need to keep the warchest stocked, not deplete it for super weapon with only a couple of rounds left...
Win shares is kind of a trash, but anyway he was 7th on the team in wln shares and 11th in win shares/48 That is not good! Pretty much the only thing we have that's actually good is unadjusted net rating, which tells is the best player on the team is Steven Adams and that Aaron Holiday should be starting - who cares? This stat has nothing to do with production and a lot to do with luck - also it tells me that he was injured during the rockets pre all-star break 6 game skid with no FVV. For example Amen Thompson's net rating took a dip on those games but he was putting up some monster games. What does that tell us? This is all a distraction anyway; I don't need stats to tell me he's been less than the sum of his promised parts ("switchable 7 footer who can shoot") for his entire career mostly. Unless he wants to go the path of true defensive specialist like Brooks, which means guarding smaller guards, which he can't it's just not enough Replacing his "production" as class clown @Mathloom is trying to warn about is probably the easiest thing to do.
College is a small sample size and should always be taken with a grain of salt. Jabari had issues putting the ball on the floor which is why his jumper was so developed. His handle wasn't so he used his jump shot as a crutch against physically inferior players. But we also have prospects right now that are the opposite. Good to great handles and their jumper is on a milk carton. 4 years in and Jalen can't even spell the word jumper. But its ok because we have videos of him "in the lab" doing his little stepback thing again so we can do this again next summer.
Why do people think Jabari had a high floor when people have to start digging around the bottom of the barrel stats to even get him up to "average" He's not bad. He's also not especially good which is partiallybwhy he saw his role reduced this year. I don't think it's high floor. It's like ground floor.
LOL Ain’t **** happening. “A deal could happen as soon as this [past] weekend!” “A deal could happen before the draft!” “A deal could happen by the draft!” “Suns could take this past the draft if they don’t like the offers.” “Suns could just hold onto Durant period.” Nothing’s happening today. (Finals/Juneteenth) Nothing probably tomorrow. Will check back in on Monday & Wednesday (draft). I know everyone says they’re out or on the periphery but ultimately, wouldn’t be surprised if Bill Simmons is right & he gets his wish, lands in San Antonio. “Fine I guess we’ll take the 14th pick & Vassell/Barnes.” “I wouldn't be surprised if KD to the Spurs is done already and they just haven't announced it,” Simmons said. “Basically, they've agreed on specifics, just announce it on the week of the draft.” (If I’m the Suns and those rumored Wolves/Raptors deal are on the table, probably taking one and move on. Who cares what he wants. Great, go sign with San Antonio next summer.)
Jabari is a good role player, but if you have to pay him $25+ million per year, the value proposition sort of goes out the window. Not sure how you can advocate paying that much for a guy who can’t dribble, finish at the rim, or playmake even a little bit.
I think I have cracked the riddle HOU - PHX - SAC - BRK PHX: Derozan (SAC) + Claxton (BRK) + #10 + PHX 2027 FRP (if top 5 TO HOUSTON & PHX gets HOU 2028 unprotected) PHX later sends Grayson Allen to SAC into TPE in exchange for 2 SRPs. PHX gets their wish to remain competitive while recouping some of their investment plus gets below both aprons. But if they try to tank in 2027, Htown gets the the reward. SAC: Green (HOU) Kings get new franchise face from hometown hero. Also acquire Allen in separate deal into a TPE for 2 SRPs (2026, 2027) It will probably be more of the same for the Kings, but Thrilla helps sell excitement (plus new baby momma territory). BRK: Dillon Brooks (HOU) + Holiday (HOU) + 2027 BRK FRP Nets take on Brooks' contract into TPE in exchange for their 2027 pick back HOU: KD (PHX) + Monk (SAC) + 2027 PHI FRP + #27 Re-sign FVV for 3 years, $90M (TO on Year 3) Swap Landale + 3 SRPs for Hauser (BOS) Roster FVV - Shep Monk - Hauser - Cam Amen - Tari - Cam KD - Bari Alpe - Adams In effect, swap Thrilla for Monk & Dillon for KD + add Hauser's outside shooting
The notion that we can draft someone to replace Tari / Jabari at 10 in this draft is quite laughable to be honest.
