At this point, I think both teams like the trade. But I think we come out ahead in the long run. It would be funny if both teams meet in the World Series.

    It's a win-win trade.

The one guy who said Dana should've gotten more doesn't understand the finances of MLB or what a NTC is.

The Astros knew they were not going to retain Kyle Tucker after this season. I think they had offered what made financial sense, and I think they thought the figures were fair to both sides; nevertheless after Vlad, Soto, etc got their contacts, Tucker must have told the Astros, the price just went up!

When the Cubs offered the package that included an All-star, a blue chip prospect, and a legit 4th starter, the Cubs gave the Astros a return that exceeded their wildest expectations.

Tucker will be seeking 400 million plus. But with his season, he may need to settle in the neighborhood of 350 million package.

Still both teams have benefited from the trade. Paredes has almost replicated Tuckers offensive production, and he’s also kept the 3rd base defensive standard set by Bregman. Cam in his own way had been a defensive surprise in RF; and for a rookie, his bat has been more than respectable.

Time is the element that most fans do not understand. They tend to look only at the immediate past, a few look at the present, even fewer look at the immediate future and the fewest look to the long term future.

Makes you wonder what we could have got if we traded Breggy the year before his contract year.

There's a happy medium that has to be reached between the now and the future.

If there weren't differences of opinion, there wouldn't be trades.

Cam should probably be in AAA this year, in a more ideal situation. Oh well, learn on the job youngster. He has a strong competitive fire.

This was not a win-win trade. The Cubs won it. Cam Smith would have to become a perennial All Star to even it out. And that isn't even a glimmer right now. Tucker is headed toward the Hall of Fame path. Delusion.

Delusion is evaluating a trade halfway through the season. Who knows who got the better end of the trade. Only time will tell.

This is a delusional take. It's not just Cam Smith that the Astros got in this trade, and so far the Astros are winning this trade.

Tucker is getting paid 15 million more for 1.3 more WAR and we have Cam for 6 more years. We also got Paredes who has a 2.3 WAR and 2 more years of control.

If we could get that kind of return, I would trade 1 year of anyone on our current roster that we have no intention of resigning.

What will you say when the Cubs don’t make the WS, and he signs somewhere else in FA? Will you still think the Cubs won the trade?

Low key one of the stupidest posts I've ever seen.

Not sure if just wrong, or if you don't understand how baseball contracts work.

This is HOW you evaluate the trade, but it's a little soon to be the optimal TIME to evaluate the trade.

Or even worst. They give him a Vlad contract to get him to stay. Eek.

I don't know if Cubs won, but the Astros sure as hell did because we had no intention of keeping Tucker. It also allowed us to get under the Apron with a little room to wiggle if we need someone at the trade deadline.
