Apparently so. Have you seen the results. Absolutely ridiculous. The majority of Clutchfans want to roll around in mediocrity for another 2+ seasons instead of taking the instantly gratifying way. Durant has already made us contenders just by having his name and the Rockets mentioned in the same sentence and the best you guys can do is come up with all these goofy excuses. You all are acting like the guy grabbed his own ankle and twisted it last season so that he could get time off. He still played 60+ games last season.
Just because KD's name puts us in the media as contenders, does not actually make us contenders. The media knows nothing, how many people had OKC and Indiana in the 2025 finals a few years ago? How many players have won a championship as the best player on a team after being traded at age 35+? Age 37+? There is not much precedent in the past 80 years. There is precedent of teams trading for KD and then imploding, the Rockets have gained assets just by chasing these teams (BKN, PHX, and if MIN trades for him you know we will be keeping an eye on Ant if they fail). Look at how many teams traded for Paul George, and look at the losers and the winners in those deals. You trade for young up and coming guys, you find the Haliburton's, the SGAs, Brunson type deals. There is not much precedent in over paying for aging stars and it being successful. I don't blame people for looking at PG and KD deals and not wanting to be on the wrong side of them. KD playing 60 games last season does not mean much, he ended the season w injury, was in and out of the lineup w an injury 4 times. PG played 74 games the prior season, and then was handed a 4 year $200M+ deal, look at how dumb that deal looks now. KD had an Achilles injury, you can't really rely on a 37 year old w that type of injury history, any game could be his last.
An Achilles rupture injury in 2019??!! Did you see the hour long long video of him last season. 60+ games until he stepped on Jabaris foot.
Do we really want to be the Mavericks. Trade for a 2 year window that doesn't even guarantee we'll contend, and then watch the ship burn if he goes down. It's egg on face unless we give up the bare minimum and I mean bare.
Durant is not the only guy that will be available... just wait until the trade deadline, there will be someone else who will be less of an injury risk, younger and won't require 61m/61m at ages 38/39.
The poll question seems incomplete, so I don’t know how to answer. If the price was pretty low, say Green and a future first, I’d say yes. Any more than that and I’d probably say no, because of Durant’s age. It isn’t a yes or no question.
My answer would be more of a Perhaps but definitely not that interested. I can't have a 36-37 year old dictate the trade market, that is the most bizarre offseason so far.
Don't think it is mediocrity, if you are firmly in the Playoffs it is more like Upper level competition....good but not great.
except we also played our 3rd stringers the rest of the way after clinching the 2nd seed with like 3-4 games to go. People need to stop bringing up the fact that we only clinched the 2nd seed by 2 games or whatever nonsense. Just shows that you barely actually followed Rockets basketball all season.
Ah but if we're getting a huge star in their prime like people are imagining, we don't need to keep everyone. After a year of KD we'll have a lot of clarity, such as: is it even mathematically logical to have 2 non-shooters in a starting lineup.
No! We do not need to give up assets for a player north of 35. We need to upgrade the 2 guard spot not trade for geriatric max salary players who cannot play shooting guard. .
Again, I watched probably 70 games this year and they played well considering where they were 3 yrs ago. You can also tell that it meant more to a team like Houston than it did a team like Denver or Lakers. Those teams just wanted home court 1st rd because nobody was catching OK City.
KD is straight-up plug n play at our most desperate need - a closer! I think he makes us actual contenders. I think he's old enough that he's not going to feel the need to be the main guy every night... i think he can defer and let our guys continue to grow - or step up and closeout games if guys are shaky. I think that's unique. 2 yr/120M idk how that plays into keeping everybody... if we can run it back for the next 2-3 years + KD and only adding rookie scale contracts... im good with that. but im no capologist... #10 and Jalen seems about right... seeing as the team is also going to have to pony up the pay day...
Still a no for me on Durant. But on a side-note I love to see the young guys developing their game to grow organically. Glad to see Sengun working on his three point shooting.
Yes, for the right price. The only 3 pieces I would consider are : Jalen, FVV and Brooks, nothing else. DD
Still shooting Flat Footed. What is wrong with these Coaches and Sengun. Can you not see the problem. Be on your toes, bend your knees, to create a spring on your legs and jump up. Even Sengun Free Throws is Flat Footed.
