This is why I cannot believe Green is being offered. How do you look at OKC and other top teams and think I’ll pair up FVV & KD and give them both multi year contracts OKC & Spurs gonna be running laps around us for a decade
It would be a mistake to give up for Jabari or Tari, when Durant likely breaks down by the all-star break.
There are a few errors on there, but in general I would never trust Stat Muse for anything or at least use other sources to verify it. There data often has errors.
This “Phoenix can have Jalen, but they don’t want him” narrative is really bad for Jalen’s value. I don’t like it.
How do you look at any team with any modicum of success and think keeping Jalen on the team in any scenario is a good choice? Whether or not they are able to get the KD trade done, Jalen needs to go. The direction of the team is changing and its clear that they want to prioritize other players and not have an inefficient shot chucker in the way taking possessions away from guys they want to give bigger roles to.
You trade for and extend KD BECAUSE you have both Bari & Tari. You have to limit KD's minutes and games. You need to keep your depth at forward. You trade picks, not bodies for KD.
Durant's durability is a concern and I think thats probably why they want to keep Jabari AND Tari. Also, just want to say I would hope the Rockets manage KD similarly to how they managed Adams or at least keep his minutes in check.
Jalen can go but I just don’t this is the right time. I would prefer to run Amen / Green / KD / Jabari / Sengun and see where Green, Reed, Cam, and even Jabari are at. If Amen / Reed can’t handle point guard duties and Jalen hasn’t redeemed himself than package a combination of Reed, Jalen, Cam + more for a younger disgruntled star Trading him just to pair up FVV & Durant in their twilight years is not the trade to deal Green in for
Imagine paying 60 million to a 37 year old you have to knowingly load manage and miss many games for three years due to major injury concerns. Who also some reported didn't really feel joy in a championship, but just likes to hoop and get paid. And then trading youth and assets for that position, that's unnecessarily desperate imo.
You know what was even worse for Jalen's value? Playing like absolute dog **** in the most important games of his life to date. I'm not as down on Jalen as a lot of folks here, but this narrative that he's a core piece to our success moving forward has to stop. This team took GSW to 7 games despite him, and frankly if he had so much as a PULSE in at least one of those other games, the Rockets would have moved on in the playoffs. It's going to take a long time for him to bounce back from that perception.
I get not wanting KD, but people acting like including Jalen fcking Green in a deal is a step too far because “he’s young” or whatever is crazy Yeah, he’s young, but is he actually good? If Jalen was on the open market this offseason as a FA, what do y’all think he’d be commanding?
Might be why a trade hasn't happened? All we are offering is Jalen and matching contracts? Face facts, 4 years in Green still can't really shoot dribble or pass. He is streaky as anything, and has terrible court vision and basketball awareness. Super athlete and amazing potential, but most likely never gets there Also might be benched this year anyway... If we can move on from his contract while getting a vet who can score in clutch scenarios - good deal. It makes more PT for other young guys to develop in the meantime.
I can respect that take. I do think that the Rockets believe they can push for a title as soon as next year by adding KD. To me, if that is the thinking then Fred makes sense to keep rather than Jalen. Fred has his warts, but a lot of those warts are magnified by playing next to Jalen. So many nights Jalen didnt have it so Fred had to take it upon himself to do more because his backcourt partner was mia. A vet pg with championship experience is probably something they want to keep in a championship run.
this would be my dream trade scenario. Rockets Kevin Durant Phoenix Fred VanVleet Cam Whitmore 10th Pick 2027 BKN 1st-round pick (Top 4 Protected)
I know you aren't a Jalen fan, but you really exaggerate that he is bad as well. He didn't just put up empty stats on a winning team. There were many games he was the reason we won. Sure, the playoffs were a complete and utter disaster, but can you blame the fanbase for thinking he does have potential to become an even better player. We are not talking about prime Durant here, despite the insane stat line he put up last year at his age, we are talking about a soon to be 37 year old that could tank our season if he gets one major injury and in fact, tank our franchise moving forward since he becomes an unmovable contract if injured. We have legitimate concerns stop being so shocked lol.
The salaries don’t even add up with Jalen & Jabari does it? Losing Jabari when our coach has not been able to even use him properly would suck. No to this!
