Apparently the Raptors are making RJ Barret available, I think he would fill a need for this team and it would also prevent the Suns from getting better by them losing out on that deal. Currently the best deals seems to be what Toronto is offering the Suns for KD.

Is he better than Jalen or just older? Their numbers through age 22 look pretty comparable

Kind of a weird thought, but hear me out. In light of the Raptors' reported interest in Durant...

    Hou in: RJ Barrett
    Hou out: Brooks, #10 pick

    Suns out: Durant
Suns in: Brooks, Poeltl, #9 pick, #10 pick

    Tort in: Durant
Tort out: Poeltl, RJ Barrett, #9 pick

The money seemingly works. The Suns get a solution at center, a good player in Brooks, and back-to-back picks on a solid draft. Toronto gets Durant to pair with Barnes and Ingram. Rockets get a major offensive upgrade at SF.

FVV / Green / RJ / Amen / Sengun or Amen / Green / RJ / Bari / Sengun. Both are pretty compelling lineups.

Sure, except that RJ Barret sucks and is a career 34.6% from 3 and 35% last year. Dillon shot close to 40% and you’re giving up the #10 pick as well. Really bad trade for the Rockets.

He had a bit of a down year last season, but the year before for Toronto he shot .39 from 3 and averaged 22 pts on a .615 TS%. I think he has way more offensive upside than Brooks and may thrive on a good, young team.

technically could be 2 trades but are dependent on each other so heres a 3 way trade

    Philly out: #3, Drummond, Gordon
    Philly in: #10, #19, Whitmore, 2027 1st returns home

Outlook: Shed salary, gain depth and cheap contracts around there incredibly expensive roster, allows Morey to lie and say something like "Cam was #1 on my board during his draft, and we believe he has a really bright future. blah blah blah..."

    Brooklyn out: #10, #19, 27 phi 1st
    Brooklyn in: #3, Drummond, Gordon

Outlook: Obvious, they move up and take the 3rd best player on there board to kick start the rebuild.

    Houston out: #10, Whitmore
    Houston in: #8

Outlook: Only do this if they like a player slipped or is available from a higher tier of prospects on their board.

It’s weird that it works. Could we swap Brooks for Jalen?I think I’d like that version better.

Id keep Brooks over RJ, let alone attach #10. RJ has always felt like fools gold

What's y'all's thoughts on Quickley? Perhaps we can snatch him from the Suns if they take the purported Toronto package. I realize his contract is somewhat large, and he was injured a lot last season, but before then he had been pretty durable, shoots 3s well, and is only 25.

I think he would be one of the key reasons the Suns are taking that deal... they want a vet PG & vet C to be "competitive"

I expect some may say this is too much, but hear me out.

Hou out: Brooks, #10 this year, Sun's 2027 FRP (we also decline FVV's option)
Hou in: Quickley, Dick, #29 this year

    Suns out: Durant
Suns in: Brooks, Poeltl, #10, 2027 FRP

    Tor in: Durant, Landale
    Tor out: Quickley, Dick, Poeltl

Here, the Suns get back some of their picks and two starters in Brooks and Poeltl. The Suns also get under the 2nd apron with this move, making it much more feasible to stay under the second apron. Toronto gets Durant without having to give up any of their picks. For Houston, we get a high level starter at PG and a very good SG/SF prospect as Green insurance without having to give up any of our young core. We also get much younger moving on from FVV and Brooks and free up space so that we could potentially use our MLE without going into the tax.

    Quickley / Green / Amen / Bari / Sengun
    Sheppard / Dick / Cam / Eason / Adams

That's a pretty solid, young ten man rotation, all of whom are under contract for at least the next couple of years.
