Yeah I don't disagree with that. The issue with Jalen is not overall shot volume though. Historically it's been about just how many overall 3's he takes for his level of skill. Since last season he became an elite catch and shoot threat, it's now only about pull up 3's. He takes 5 of those and that kind of volume is reserved for the elite pull up shooter of the league (he's making only 29%-ish of them). Those are 3's he's trying to create out of thin air and off balance and we do that because the rest of the roster sucks at taking pull up 3's (there's literally no one who can take those at a significant volume). So I would be very happy to cut 2-3 pull up 3's out of his shot diet. However what I think will happen is the extra spacing created by Durant's presence will open up extra driving and FT opportunities - which is great because he's far more efficient at those than pull up 3's. The result would be a more efficient Jalen with more consistent production (lower highs and higher lows). Most likely you'll see a slight uptick in assists too because the general quality of shooters around him will have gone up. Exactly what we need from him.
Honestly, a package of, say, RJ, Poeltl, and the #9 pick would be pretty solid for the Suns. Poeltl fixes their center issues, RJ is a decent #2 / #3 scorer next to Booker, and they get a solid pick in a good draft.
Has anyone considered that maybe we gave up on Daishen Nix too soon? I mean he's only 23 and most superstars don't really break out until they are 25. I would hate for him to get released and then break out for some other team. We should start him.
Knicks Celtics Spurs Rockets Heat So the Wolves & Raptors probably have the “best” offers but he don’t want either (but let’s be real, he ain’t holding out either.) He wants the Spurs but the Spurs only kinda sorta want him at their price.
It's a great offer for the Suns but consider for the Raptors: - Durant will be paying the highest tax possible of any NBA team - and his preferred destinations are all low tax teams - so he'd be an unhappy 1 year rental - Raptors would be starting Shead/Ingram/Barnes/Durant/Boucher with no depth which is a first round exit - then KD walks in a year Just seems too absurd to be true. Feels like Masai is just trying to get clicks and hide the poor job he's done the past few years. He'd get fired very quickly doing this. If it's truly on the table, we should let them have him.
I think counting 40 point games makes as much sense as counting 10 point games or less. You're framing things in the best possible light for Jalen ignoring the downside. I'm not trying to be mean, but I think if you're basing how good a player is by their 40 point games alone shows signs of lack of understanding.
A It’s by far the best package I’ve seen reported on. Whether the reporting is accurate is very suspect. It would be a ballsy move for Phoenix to send Durant to somewhere he doesn’t want to go. I think this particular package is BS. I have no idea why Toronto would give up all that for 1 year of Durant.
Durant's main reason for not wanting the Wolves is not for basketball reasons. Nike probably doesn't want him near Ant (Adidas)
Now compare the points per shot attempt... You're ignoring all the points other players score when Bane isn’t wasting a possession on a terrible shot like Green. Just start arguing how Pete Rose is better than Ted Williams because he had more hits. That's what you sound like making such arguments...
Again, when did I say that Green is better than Bane? I haven't. I said that Green's value in the league is higher than many on here believe, and it's too premature to declare what he will be as a player.
It's worse than that even, it's like arguing that Derek Jeter was the best defensive shortstop because he had the most jumping cross body throws to first.
You are right on his value. Folks wanting to trade Jalen for Durant are being emotional not practical. I have no problem trading Jalen, but for a 37 year old player that averages 52 games a year, no thanks.
