Jalen easily. Jalen scored over 30+ around 35 games and was the focal point of our offense most nights. He also drew double, triple team defenses which opened up shots for others. Bane was almost never to focal point of their offense. YES...the Bane trade just significantly upped Jalen's value. It's also about team needs (usage). I think Bane worked perfectly with Ja and JJJ. But you can't ask Bane to carry a team. I think Jalen would still have to carry the offensive load (and Alpi) even if we acquired Durant and just have Durant kind of save us on nights when Jalen struggles. Assuming Jalen is not included in the trade.
I posted their comps in another thread. Desmond is better right now, but Jalen could get there if he would become more efficient.
I was hoping we could trade Jalen and 10 for bane before this happened. Now we are stuck. If we care about style points flash Jalen is better. If we care about actual on court production and consistency. Bane is far superior.
They have actually played basically the same amount of games, though bane came in a year earlier (and is older). The gap between them is SO massive though that jalen would need such a huge efficiency jump, it's not within reason.
Bane is for sure the player who contributes to winning more - The better player. Maybe in another timeline, Jalen is better. Edit: OP, way to farm engagement by asking an obvious question.
It's actually a tricky question!! I'd say Bane is probably a bit better, but there wouldn't be a whole lot in it. Bane is 26, so has a few years over Green, one wonders how much Green's game can grow in that space of time?
Yep. This exactly. I think it's a great comp, especially when you consider the haul that was given for Bane. Jalen needs to get better, he's absolutely not good enough yet, but who knows where he will be comparatively a few years from now.
Maybe but imagine we had him instead of Jalen vs the warriors. We’d be up 2-3 against the pacers and Kyle balls
In the same sense that people said he was better at 20 than jordan was, since he was in the nba and Jordan wasn’t. 23 was bane’s rookie season, and i wouldn’t say jalen was “better” this season than rookie bane, he just took more shots but way less efficient and obviously worse on d.
