But at least he played. KD plays half the games every year. I think you misunderstand Fred's impact on the rockets. He's a leader and mentor and he plays solid defense and doesn't turn the ball over. In year 3 he'd be an expiring contract to trade and or he's like an assistant coach. He's the perfect mentor to someone like Reed. Because he's not the most physically gifted player so he can teach Reed how to play better positional defense and learn how to play more physical. KD on the other hand is none of those things and way older coming off major injuries. He can't really teach anyone to be him because while he's one of the greatest to ever play he can't make our guys 7 feet tall with 7'6" wingspans. I love KD he went to UT the same tike was there. He's probably the greatest scorer of all time. we needed him to come 10 years ago instead he took the easy way out and went to Golden state. Now he's damaged goods and they want us to over pay for him? No thanks.
Im down like four flat tires! Best trade outcome for us. But Ime loves FVV so I dobut that happens, unfortunately.
I’m fine walking away from the KD trade negotiations if the Suns are asking for too much. But on Fred, he only played 60 games last yr and has only played 70 games once in the last 7 yrs. That’s not gonna get better as he gets older. So his availability going forward is a real question for me. I agree on the leadership part, but I saw the defense slip a bit this yr as part of a general all around decline in his game. There were times he was being hunted on D late in the year. I don’t want to extend him for 3 yrs. He needs to prove he can bounce back from last year before we extend him for multiple years. I think that’s pretty reasonable and wise. I’d rather pick up his bloated option than commit multiple yrs to Fred at this point. Could stomach a 3 yr deal with the 3rd yr as a team option but that’s it.
Suns starting to realize that they will not get back any players good enough to compete next year to pair with Booker. I wonder if they pivot to full rebuild and trade Booker.
Quick question: Dillion Brooks, Tari Eason, Jock Landale, Aaron Holiday, JaeSean Tate, #10 and 2027 FRP for KD, honestly is this really too much?? We already have 2 players who would be top 5 picks in this years draft and next years draft that hasn't seen the court yet in (Reed and Cam) this trade opens up opportunities to see what we have with losing Tari and Aaron. After watching KD highlights from last year I've changed my mind on those picks..... TRADE THEM and get KD here and let's put our best foot forward for the next 2-3 years. FVV, Reed, Amen JG, Cam Amen, Cam, KD KD, Bari, Amen Alpi, Adams, Bari That's enough talent to win it all.
Am I the only one thinking KD might want Texas or Florida to avoid paying state income taxes on $120 million?
Really hoping the Rockets are just pestering the Suns for Booker. A true superstar without trading Amen or Sengun because of Phoenix' need to get their pick control back is truly a unique situation. The Nets were never going to present this option. The original trade was for this exact scenario, don't blow your asset load for KD. Jalen, Tari, salary (Holliday, Landale and Williams), Pick #10, 2027 suns pick, 2027 BKN swap rights, 2029 suns / mavs swap rights. That's probably not even enough but it's close. Maybe removing Tari from the trade and adding Jabari to Memphis to get the Suns 2026 pick back would push it over the edge.
I appreciate you playing along. Phoenix doesn't care how bad their backcourt is in this scenario; they are tanking for two years since they control their picks and allowing Beal's contract to expire. They won't blow it up until they know they control their picks, much like BKN.
It's a combination of that plus he desperately wants to start/invest in a WNBA team, and Texas and Florida are ripe for that market. He's focused on off the court opportunities as much as he is on the court fit. Minnesota is a question mark in both aspects. If he was ok playing in Minnesota, I firmly believe the deal would have been done by now.
Absolutely 100% agree, he's already discussed $120 million for two years. We'll essentially be his retirement plan in his twilight basketball years. Pass
Even then, 60 mil a year for 38 and 39 year old KD is absurd. He might have one or maybe two seasons left as a top 30 player but he's simply not LeBron or Steph.... and i wouldn't want either of them for 60 mil a year at their current age.
