I don't want to overpay for KD but I think this package is very optimistic for us. I would trade that in a second if we have a separate trade for PG help. BUT, I think the Suns want something like good young player, salary match contracts, and 2 FRPs for KD. I hate that kind of trade. Does a trade for KD and a small trade for PG help or shooting make us contenders? If yes, then we might need to consider giving away more for a short term chance to compete.
The Suns have attempted to create some leverage by letting everyone know that they will deal KD to the team that gives them the best return, not necessarily the team that KD wants to play for. KD has also given the Suns some leverage by naming more than 1-2 teams he will play for. The interesting one not included in SA. However - the leverage play by the Suns has some limited power because KD can always refuse to sign an extension.
I think that’s a given for Eason or Jabari. In that scenario we would ideally let them play their 4th year and go into RFA. As role players who don’t create, I like our odds retaining them on favorable deals. Could you imagine what Jalen would have fetched on the open market this offseason? Probably half what he got. Sengun may have gotten maxed by BKN, though
I hope he goes somewhere else. Unless you can get him for really cheap, which seems unlikely, it seems foolish to spend much on a guy who will probably break down on you.
Not so sure if you look at the Finals matchup. I think other teams see that too and understand that superteams might be dead.
I think it's interesting that talking heads are saying today that the Suns view Jalen Green only as someone they'd want to trade away to a 3rd team if he was in a deal for KD. Even a rebuilding team doesn't see any value in him being on their team.
The best thing about where we are (regardless of the backcourt and shooting issues) is that we can always walk away and feel just fine. There are other ways to shore up the backcourt and add shooting. As long as we don’t sign Fred to a stupid deal we maintain our flexibility to improve through many different avenues going forward.
Durant still sells tickets so I don't think its out of the questions for the Suns just try to make the play-in next year. Most of these doo-doo packages are negligible for their benefit anyways.
Hope you are healthy brother. That cancer is a b****. Stone will not be fleeced #ibelieve #graysonallen #nookspeen
Rockets out: Green Whitmore Brooks Jock 2025 #10 Rockets In: Durant Coby White PHX out: Durant PHX in: Nikola V Brooks Jock 2025 #10 Chicago Out: Coby White Nikola V Chicago In: Green Cam Whitmore I think this could work for all parties. This gives PHX some help at Center, their pick back, and a legit player in Brooks. They probably want more, but I don't think anyone is willing to give up a lot for Durant. They could also save a ton of money by waiving Jock. Chicago gives their fanbase something to be excited about with two young prospects while moving on from Nikola. As for Rockets, we accomplish a lot of things: we get our starting PG for this young group and will have the option to move on from FVV or resign him to a backup, we can now extend Tari and Bari inserting one of them into the starting lineup, we get a go-to scorer for at least a year while still keeping some pretty amazing picks
Yeah but I seriously doubt a lot of teams want to trade for him given his age and injury history so, while I think it’s smart of the suns I think ultimately it back fires
The Rockets won't sign FVV to a stupid deal. That won't keep people from freaking out or catastrophizing the deal if they don't like it.
I hope you’re right. he’s a declining player so the org needs to be careful. Also if Reed takes a big step we don’t want a bunch of money tied up in Fred.
