On the height thing, you're comparing all taller players than FVV and all of them more skilled at scoring as well. A giant chunk of FVV's impact on the floor is defense based and that side disappears faster. It's really not a good bet, and it's also important to note his peak is nowhere near their peak. If he declines as much as those guys, he will be a less than replacement level player by next season. I would not bet on the young guy regressing and the old guy bumping up, I think that's the logical thing. What I'm understanding is you feel like you have a hunch, but I'm just highlighting that's a highly unlikely scenario and we don't act on unlikely scenarios. We act on likelihoods in trade.
I do think he's overrated but I also think that he's better than he's shown. They are the only other team in the NBA trying to get into the playoffs who have a more catastrophic spacing situation than us. I believe they're dead last. Getting Bane will help him a lot.
Desmond Bane is 27 with 4 years left on his deal, and the KCP and Cole contracts were net negatives in that deal. It was definitely an overpay but that deal has literally zero correlation to the KD deal.
Let's do a thought exercise... Tell me 4 years from now how much these players are making: Sengun Green Thompson Eason Smith Whitmore Sheppard Now how much for the other 8 guys on the roster??? Tell me which players you put Eason above on that list...
I struggled with that too. In another thread I was thinking Rocks could trade 10th to Memphis for Pho 2026, then offer Pho 26, 27 and FVV. The two picks feel a little more palatable if they are attached to 43 million FVV. Phoenix does it for the successive picks, allowing them to guarantee themselves top 5 picks in the next 2 drafts.
That is what you think. If Desmond Bane is worth 4 picks, then I bet the league thinks KD is worth 2 picks at least. We shall see.
You're comparing Bridges and Eason. Eason has played 3,667 minutes. Bridges was halfway through his second season and the same age as Eason now when he played those minutes. Bridges played more than 6,700 minutes in his first 3 seasons. Typically the more you play the less efficient you are as fatigue kicks in. So you're comparing apples and oranges. They were playing different roles.
Bane is a decade younger and a fringe all-star player. Magic with Bane, Wagner, Banchero, and some depth and good coaching could be a contender but that does feel like an overpay.
The value of those pics is also not great. Orlando has enough depth where they’re always gonna be late teens or early twenties.
Banchero is not a central piece of a contending team. He is not great at anything except passing. Crappy shooter, crappy rebounder, crappy defender.
replace Jalen Green with K.D. and the Rockets easily beat the Warriors in the first round, could have beaten the Minny in 2nd round too. people saying KD don't get you over the Thunders are silly, there's no 1 single player that can who's available for the Rockets. you "build" that team by getting closer and closer. trade for KD first, if it dont gut your team, then get the final piece of the puzzle later (summer/trade deadline). i'd give up JG + Brooks + Landale&Holiday's non-gntd contracts + 27'Pho.FRP for KD + Grayson Allen + #29pick combine the #29 pick and Whitmore for a pick in the teens to draft Collin Murray-Boyles, who fits Ime's system perfectly. (Ime wont play Whitmore anyway) trade FVV for Z.LaVine for better shooting and let Amen man the point more. (LaVine is actually a a good on ball defender, maybe better than FVV at this point, while a terrible help defender but i think Ime can fix that) call Daryl to see if he's willing to trade the #3 for #10 + Jabari Smith jr., and get VJ Edgecombe (to replace J.G. for the "future") split the MLE to sign C.Boucher ($8.6Mil., to replace Jabari), and CP3($5.5Mil. to replace FVV's leadership) resign Adams (already done) and Tate (on a cheap deal) Vet. Min. candidates: T.H.T., Al Horford you got this lineup to start the season, and maybe a little twist at the deadline, and most importantly keep most of the draft capitals to transit after KD gone in 3 years. Sengun, Adams, Horford K.Durant, Boucher, CMB T.Eason, G.Allen, J.Tate Z.LaVine, Egecombe, THT Thompson, CP3/Shepperd
Bane isn't worth 4 picks. Bane may have been worth 2 picks, or 2 + Swap (i believe one of them, washington has the swap rights), the other 1 to 1+ is offloading the 40 million owed to KCP. It is not 4 picks in a vacuum, the grizz soaked up KCP huge deal, so part of the package was to pay for that to go away. I'd rather us be a 3rd or 4th team to send KD to where he wants, and get memphis involved with sending JJ Jr to us =P
